I was a rock and roller of the 1970s, and there were some great bands, including Grand Funk who was always a personal fav of mine. I bet some of you didn't know that they donated two New York concert proceeds to a drug program treatment center in the 70s called The Phoenix House. There is a little bit of that interview in this video. The other video is strictly All Grand Funk. Mark Farner's musical diversity is a matter of public record; his voice legendary and one of the best rock voices ever, well in my opinion anyway. Did you know that Rolling Stone Magazine ranked "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home" as one of the top ten classic songs of all time? Yeah, me either, I just know I really liked it, and loved this great American Band of the 70s, enjoy!
I dare you not to listen and sing it outloud! If you're like me, you'll probably go looking for some more of their videos to watch and sing to, like Locomotion and We're An American Band, Rock N Roll Soul, dang, there were some great songs! Forming in late 1968, Grand Funk was the first American rock band to obtain 10 consecutive platinum albums, and had many top 40 singles with two #1 singles. You couldn't listen to the radio and NOT hear their songs. Who remembers the 1973 #1 hit, “We’re An American Band”, huh? Dang I sure do. This song expresses the life of a rock band on the road and made them the quintessential American Band.
Born as a garage band from the industrial city of Flint, Michigan, they rose to fame quickly because their music and persona spoke to the soul of the people. I love that statement about them, which is the gospel truth. The average folk loved 'em. They gave other bands inspiration and always with the Grand Funk style they never let us 70s rock and rollers down. Among the band’s many sold out concerts were that of a show in 1971 at Shea Stadium that sold out in 72 hours...it took the much higher hyped Beatles 7 weeks to sell out the same venue 7 years earlier.
Based on the contributions guitarist, Mark Farner, drummer, Don Brewer, bassist, Mel Schacher and the later added orgainist, Craig Frost made to the history of rock n roll, Grand Funk Railroad should be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. I for one, cannot believe that such a great American band has not been inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, or at least I couldn't find it to be a truth. If you think this band should be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame (hell yeah!) then be a part of history and make it happen.

and how's this for an encore from Don Brewer?! ha! and you thought this was two for Tuesday! suuuprise, suuuprise as Gomer would say...
A Great American Band...Two For Tuesday...
Is It Gonna Snow? and other stuff...
If I haven't been to visit much it's because my eyes have become inflamed here over the last few days, be it from an infection? or eye strain. I have no idea, but it was so bad yesterday that trying to spend any time online outside of working 8 at my computer screen was just not happening. It was all I could do to get through my workday. I even had a girl from work bring me another monitor thinking my monitor was just going bad with lighter type and bigger glare, but that wasn't the case. Talk about feeling stupid.
I shouldn't be here now really, and my ophthalmologist's office is looking to work me in when they get a cancellation. I think upon evaluation, I might invest in some lenses at just the right distance from my screen to chair. Until then, I have been overdosing on eyedrops and I even found some antibiotic drops leftover from last time! It can't hurt. After engaging my eyes upon this computer screen now for the past 11 years at my job, I guess the next step is total blindness?! Sheesh!
Today I also deleted over 5,000 files out of my C-drive, work-related, no wonder my puter was hanging up some on me. It was bogged down with voice files and other cache work stuff. It has lost 10 pounds and feels much, much better!
In other news, if any of you are wondering, I guess nothing else has developed out of my crazy EX trying to get an EPO (which was denied this past Friday frankly because he didn't sign the form). He would look pretty stupid in the courtroom over this after bringing her down here two days later after this assault had supposedly had happened. What Judge would believe that a 17 year old was assaulted by her own mother to turn around 2 days later and come by for a visit, hang out, bring snacks, and have a good time? Could be that the evil EX is working on something more sinister, or this could be just my paranoia working overtime! LOL Like I care. I'm over his shit and hers too!
However, you just never know what to expect out of crazy. I still haven't gotten to talk to my teen about this whole ordeal, she avoids me and the topic, but it has by no means been forgotten by me. She will turn 18 in March and knows the truth from a lie. She is lucky I will even let her come back to my house to visit at all due to her making up such lies about my assaulting her, and going as far as to have a police report filed and her father going to get an EPO over absolutely nothing but a lie. By the way, how does one protect themselves from crazy? I might have to seek legal action just to protect myself.
I am wondering if its gonna snow or what around my neck of the woods here. It's cold here today...brrrrr...I even put my blankies in the wash and can't wait to cuddle into them when they're fresh and hot out of the dryer! and ... Yes, I am still carless after all this time, and I need some tunes.
What's going on around the blog nation?! Tell me....
Rainy Day Tunes...
I love instrumentals, and I can't get this tune, "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" out of my mind for some reason~ and I wished this Eddie Rabbit song, "I Love A Rainy Night" would stop playing through my head too! LOL Blame it on this rainy weather, and the fact that I was actually making a new pinkpod of "Rainy Day Tunes"
How many of you like the Allman Brothers? Here's a bio piece out of Rollin' Stone about this band...
The Allman Brothers Band blended strains of Southern music — blues, R&B, country, jazz, and gospel — into a flexible, jam-oriented style that reflected the emergence of the "New South" and set the style for Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, and countless other Southern rockers. Oddly — or eerily, some would say — the band's unusual string of untimely deaths has been repeated in other Southern-rock bands.
Through personal tragedy and turmoil, the Allman Brothers Band has endured and, though lacking the commercial clout of its early-'70s heyday, the band remains highly respected and well received by legions of fans. To continue reading their bio
Some think the Allman Brothers were the best "live band" ever. They toured relentlessly and certainly were not without their highs and lows. One of their lowest blows being the death of Duane Allman in October 1971. While riding his motorcycle in Macon, Duane swerved to avoid a truck and lost control of the bike. He died as a result of his injuries. Then even before the band members had a chance to fully recover from this shock, bass guitarist Berry Oakley was also killed in a motorcycle accident on November 1972. Strangely enough, this second accident occurred less than a mile from the scene of Duane's death. Although the surviving members decided to continue with new musicians, many of their fans feared that the original spirit of the band had been lost.
They would have falling outs and reunite several times. I was kind of shocked when Cher and Greg Allman got married because they certainly did not seem compatible to me, did they you? but it was short-lived for 4 years I think. Together they became the parents of a son, Elijah Blue Allman, who later formed his own band, Deadsy. Then there was the drug scandal with their manager. Yep, I guess no band is without their break-ups, drugs, and tumultuous affairs. Anyway, enjoy the video.
Supposedly there was an affair going on I believe was it Dickey Betts? with a married woman ... some think might have been Boz Scagg's wife? and this particular piece was written with her in mind...but who really knows the story behind this great instrumental piece, bloggers?
Is it a rainy in your neck of the woods today, too?
What's the News...Across the Blog Nation...
I have got your information...
Today was interesting.
I managed to get through my workday unscathed and without issue. I kept waiting for a knock at my door, and a policemen standing there waiting to serve me with an EPO.
It never happened. I called and they said it was "Denied."
Really?
Yeah. I was told that my ex had called the courthouse to find out and he was told the same thing. So, I decided I would try to have a chat with my unruly lying teen about this latest little escapade on her Facebook page which she updates quite frequently. I know where she loafs online. I even tried to get her to talk to me last night. I did leave her a message telling her that I was concerned that she could contact me by email, and that I was worried about her. I got no reply back last night but I did try and figured if I was served with an EPO I wouldn't get a chance to talk to her about this.
Lo and behold though the great Gods of Intervention for whatever reason this EPO was denied. haha! Yeah, as it should have been all along what a crock. I had to celebrate on that one, and then I really wanted to talk to my teen because I could. I figured if I called out there and her dad started running his mouth telling me "She said she never wanted to talk to you again!" which she didn't obviously mean of course...I would let him know straight up that I knew his EPO was denied, and I had every right to talk to her, especially about an outright lie, but he didn't say a word when I called. He knew better. Even he knows this is not true and I believe the bruise came from him. I did try to talk to her online again today and told her to open the chat. She was on there, had the chat open, which gave me an opportunity to try to talk to her...
Me trying to initiate a conversation...
hey
whassup girlie?
why are you mad at me?
I don't understand any of what has happened...I don't...
you know I love you more than anything on this earth...
I will come get you if you want...have somebody bring me if I can't get a car
please talk to me...
are you talking to 15 different people? lol
as usual...
4:50 … Me again…
helllo...??
I know you are there...I am here.
worried about how you are.
I talked to your school counselor yesterday. he's a pretty cool guy.
about your credit recovery and inquired about this "bruise"
Who is putting bruises on you?
It isn't me. You know this.
I am worried. Please talk to me when you feel you can.
You always talk to me. We just had a good time on Monday for that hour you were here and you talked to me then about a lot of stuff....
about your love life and your Dad...
4:55 pm….Me again…
about Josh and other stuff... things you did this past weekend?
you certainly did not come down last weekend I wished you had come. BellaRose was here and the festival was going on in Ashland downtown. (BellaRose is my granddaughter)
4:58 …Me again…
Obviously you won't talk to me for whatever reason or perhaps your Dad is watching? reading?
I'm out of here myself. I love you much.
She never once responded to anything I said, however she was reading it...because...
I happen to notice on her update Facebook that it now read ...
"SCREW YOU."
I even made a comment, "Huh? Are you talking to me?"
She never responded. Logged out.
Well...on that note I figured a phone call was in order. I never once raised my voice, nor was I hateful. My ex answered the phone. I asked for Bobbi he said hold on. After hanging up once, her Dad picked up the receiver and told me hang on, at which point she got on the phone and said..."what..." hateful. I asked her why she was being so hateful and mad at me, I didn't do anything, as a matter of fact I was worried about her and called to find out if she was all right and to please tell me what happened with this bruise deal. She even smarted off to me telling me that if I was asking her questions, including about the bruise, she would just hang up.
Knowing her moods and behaviors, I tried to change the subject. I figured this might be better approached NOT on the phone and with a witness present. I certainly don't want a conversation to take place about this without somebody here to make sure she doesn't twist it, or say I grabbed her arm and bruised it, or for goodness sakes hit her on the back?! I wouldn't want to fuel her father's obvious stupidity that I was badgering his baby girl on the phone. She is MY daughter too...LOL...
I informed her that I would have my car no later than noon tomorrow and I would pick her up. She said she had to work. I said to let me know her hours. She has called me back twice now with interruptions from her father...so who knows if she will call back tonight. She wanted to go to the ballgame...said she couldn't...said she wasn't grounded...
What this teen needs is better acting lessons! She knows I will lower the boom about this with her sooner or later. If it is later, so be it. I refuse to be lied about. As a matter of fact, she is lucky I don't go to the courthouse and file a statement that she has lied and disrespected me as her mother and has even gone as far as to make a police report of an incident that did not even occur on a date she said was Saturday the 19th, a date that she was NOT even in this house. She is already under jurisdiction of the juvenile court system. If her father tries to pursue this, I think the court may find that supposedly this assault incident occurred on Saturday the 19th...and Bobbi comes to my house two days later on a Monday the 20th for an hour after her Dad dropped her off because he was running a few errands? You would think if I had assaulted her she definitely would not have come to my house two days later? For goodness sakes...come on now.. uhhh...Yeah...
Go ahead, give me the Oscar...I deserve it.
Knock, Knock...Whose There?
A policeman standing at my door?
Oh God, what happened?
I can tell you what happened next I was totally unprepared for. I was shocked that my 17 year old teen would accuse me of assaulting her. When? Over the weekend? I never saw her the weekend at all. As a matter of fact, she was dropped off by her Dad for an hour on Monday while he ran errands. He has dropped her off a few times over the last 3 weeks as I haven't had a car to pick her up in. Monday while she was here for an hour, we had a great time listening to music and she even brightened my otherwise stressful day at work.
No, I was totally unprepared for this news. It shook me up so much so that I couldn't even do my job. The officer informed me Bobbi was very upset and emotional and did not want me to go to jail. There were no pictures taken, no obvious battery, other than what he referred to as a few days old bruise on her forearm that looked like a thumb print and possibly a 3rd and 4th finger imprint from where perhaps somebody could have applied pressure. The cop also told me, as did Bobbi's dad that Bobbi said she never wanted to see me again. I can't tell you how shocked I was at that, and so unbelievably hurt to the point of tears. Unbelievable.
Even more unbelievable is that the story gets even worse, according to the my ex from hell whom I called at lunchtime about this. He informed me that he was told called by the school yesterday and it escalated from there and he is doing what he was told to do? Does that include filing an EPO against the mother of your child? Supposedly and acc. to my inside sources, he was at the courthouse at 9 a.m. sharp to file this, but as of yet, nearly 11 p.m., I have not been served with any papers stating such. My ex's story does not jive with what I found out at school, other than my daughter implying that I had put it there.
The school counselor did tell me that he had pressed her for details about it, but that she was unable to really provide anything acceptable to warrant him calling in any authorities. I assured him that indeed there was no credibility to this. I was surprised though that acc. to the ex this whole episode started there. As it stands now, I am still waiting to find out what is going on. The cop and the school was surprised that her father filed an EPO, well no kidding, so am I. I have tried to contact my daughter on her Facebook page out of concern but she is ignoring me, and she had worked at her part-time job this evening.
I am shellshocked to hell.
Dusting Off The Day....
for a few days to refuel and refocus..
I wished I lived by water 24/7...
and who ever tires of a sunset? not me...
of autumn days gone by...

I have no words to say on this slow and dreary day,
the morning’s clarity has lost its direction
no words
I don’t know how many things there are in this world that have no name ...
i.e., the soft inner side of the elbow, webbed skin between the fingers.
and no longer seems capable to even summon a moon.
a descending leaf exhaling the season its witnessed, gliding in the wind as if seeking a listener.
the hush of morning before you see it as it is, shy with its wondrous "sights" then exploding into its magnificence.
a word for your heart when you feel the true meaning of absolute unconditional love, yet lost in its abstractness~
I was looking for a great encyclopedia, the secret dictionary of all the missing words. I wanted to consult its index and find out what to call "this" too. This irrefutable buzz I felt ~ when I felt you ~that swayed with every concept.
no words
I feel you no more.

Computer vision syndrome? No Kidding!
Obviously lots of people suffer from this, especially if they spend long hours gazing at a screen. Dr Mohan Rajan, medical director, Rajan Eye Care Hospital, a leading Chennai-based tertiary centre treating eye disorders explains:
“Normally we blink 15 times in a minute. But while working on computers, the blink rate comes down to 5 times a minute, resulting in the evaporation of fluids on the eye. This results in dry eye. For some, this may lead to severe headaches and in extreme cases even to depression (okay I'm not so sure I believe the depression bit).”
Let's do the math shall we? Normally if I blink 15x a minute for at least 7 hours I'm working (minus the 30 minutes for lunch and two 15-minute breaks) that's 15 x 60 minutes in a hour which is 900 times an hour (I'm pretty sure I don't do that much)... which would a total blinking of 6,300 times in 7 hours, which means relatively nothing really...cause obviously I'm not doing enough blinking or looking away from my screen.
Other symptoms of CVS, besides dry eyes, include: tired eyes, eyestrain, sore eyes, periodic blurred near vision, occasional blurred distance vision, slowness in changing the focus of your eyes, red eyes, burning eyes, contact lens discomfort, changes in color perception, glare sensitivity, excessive neck, shoulder and back pain. Okay, do some of these symptoms really relate to the eye issue or more so to protocol distances of screen to eyes, arms to keyboard, and overall posture at the computer desk? It would seem so to me.
What does this doctor recommend for eye symptoms? “We suggest a formula 20:20:20 to professionals. Every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds, blink 20 times,” he advises. One should take micropauses and focus on distant objects at regular intervals. I don't think I could do that every 20 minutes but maybe I could remember to do it occasionally. My suggestion is a good eye checkup first, and glasses if need be!
I can certainly identify with the dry eye thingy and blurred vision when its really bad! I know I am going to have to practice blinking more or looking away more frequently as my eyes are sooo dry that the drops burn hitting their green target! Time to lube up again!
My tired eyes and I will be back when we feel better. In the meantime, enjoy what's playing on in Pink Pod! including some new tunes, and 50 minutes of Walter Trout and the Radicals!
Somebody stole the pink pod?! go visit my MixPod site, and play it!
songs on this pod include:(but not limited to...lol)
and that's all the songs I've got on it for now! Would you like me to add something to it for your listening pleasure?! Just hollaback!
Rambling Rosie...Who Sang That?
I stayed up way too late watching TV, and sleeping in without a phone call too early on a Sunday is a blessing! I'm out surfing around, my favorite thing to do. I love checking out bloggers, and following links to find new and interesting blogs. Once you start exploring you can get lost for way too long, and housework just falls by the wayside, am I right?! LOL...
On my sidebars, there are a few Blogstream friends, and Blogger friends, that you guys should check out if you're so inclined. Blogger is vast. Blogstream to me didn't seem to be that way; it was more controlled with no great choice of blog templates and/or all the other perks Blogger offered. Blogstream was more intimate it seemed than Blogger; esp. the earlier days of Blogger, as it seemed harder to navigate back when, and since has become easier. I don't know whether this is because I learned to navigate Blogger better, I would assume so; either way, I feel comfortable in my blogging skin, and I appreciate all of you who stop in and make me feel a part of Blogger! I love all the comedians over here!
Today is Sherry of "Raindrops" birthday, so if I haven't been around, it's cause I'm playing at Blogstream today. Sherry also has a blog over here, "Gawd Dang Lucky Frogs." My friend, Scratch who has two blogs listed on my sidebar, Echoes and Scratch's Bar & Grill, and there's Ice On the Windshield" all of whom are great writers. Scratch is into fiction and all are deserving of book deals I tellya. Also I couldn't forget Fairweather Lewis, who blogs the best spook stories ever! Maybe you guys would enjoy them, so check out some of these Blogstream bloggers sometimes if the mood strikes. Yep, some of us 'blogstreamers' started blogs over here a long time back but found it difficult to navigate and develop blogships with others here; however, I don't feel that way anymore. I enjoy the diversity of blog community both here and at Blogstream. Isn't that the way it is? You start blogging somewhere and then you drift off and try other places...even Twitter and Facebook. I lost interest in the twitting phenomenon, not my thing really, nor Facebook.
I have a teen who has quite a social network that I try to keep a handle on, so I have accts with almost every social network whether I use them or not, usually I'm just looking in on her, as she is everywhere I don't want her to be! I guess I really don't have room to talk as I seem to be everywhere too. You'd think I'd make up my mind about a blog home, but then again, it's a woman's prerogative not to, right?! Gee, and how time has passed already! Gotta get that laundry done! See yuns, have a great Sunday!
Lounging~

Music relaxes and transports me out of the mundane and to places I'll one day go, like taking a stroll along this brick boardwalk in Amsterdam. Music can soothe me, it can pump me up, it can bring me to tears and shout for joy!
It is just me...or is the month of September passing by quickly? I've been waking up to greet fog in the mornings too. Before we know it, we'll have to kick on the heat and bring out the sweaters. I love the fall season though. I'd love to take the train excursion through West Virginia at the peak of the autumn color change, but the thought of doing so alone doesn't really interest me. I could go down to the wrinkle bar but that's not my style either. I guess you'll find me here, since I've no car, listening, as music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
If I had to listen to that pirate video one more time, I was going to throw it out to sea! puke! Anybody got any cheese to go with this whine? I'd love to put up a chat in here sometime. The last time I put a chatbox up at Blogstream, I had the pleasure of the company for about an hour of a darling, well mannered, 13 year old boy, so I had to be on my best behavior...I hate it when that happens (jk!). It struck me a little odd though, we discussed music and such, and he 'seemed' to be older than his stated years. I hated to be rude and make an excuse and duck out, as I was hoping somebody else would come in and talk to me that I knew from Blogstream but that didn't happen. For all I know, this kid could have been an undercover cop conducting an Internet sting trying to get me to solicit sex from a minor! It happens you know.

Music is my love and my life; it is the heart of my soul. It is a manifestation of where I’ve come from, of where I am at any given moment in time.
Music is what I live for, it is an experience. Music is a growth; it’s energizing, exciting, expressive and, dramatic. Good music makes my insides flutter with excitement. My head moves up down and sideways rhythmically, shoulders sway back and forth to the tune. My feet go tap, tap, tap, to the beat with a mind-of-their-own. Soon I’m up moving twirling swirling and dancing around the room like a child on Christmas morning.
Music is an expression that all can embrace, interpret, and feel. It is an expression that will never die and will constantly be created and twisted into enjoyable melodic prose.
Music is like an antidote, it helps reduce stress, it is what I can depend on when many things in life are not trustworthy.
Music is my sanity and my passion; a way to escape the physical world and express ideas and emotions. Music is a link to my dreams which helps me to relax, visualize and create. © 2009 by Leona G. Shankle

What Am I Listening To?
Earlier I was surfing and I came across a post that brought an Alicia Keys song to mind, so my mind drifted in that direction for a while, and while out cruising through videos of hers, I came across a video that she and Jack White did for a movie...so needless to say...it threw me in Jack's path.
To admire his guitar talents, one would have to
if you'd like to read a good article in Ask Men.Com about Jack White, click here.
but who could resist not watching the whole Ball and Biscuit~which is one of my Jack favs...
gotta love Jack.
BTW, Here's a trivia question for ya. Rolling Stones ranked and placed Jack on their "100 Greatest Guitarists" of all time. Go ahead, without looking it up, and guess where he ranked.
Miss Crabby Patties...
Is sticking her head out, where is everybody?! I had to do a double take of my calendar to make sure it was Friday! One more day of this stress and I would blow a gasket!
Today, was a repeat of yesterday, sorta stressful as it always is with new stuff to learn, but instead of ob/gyn "twats" it was "taddy ball and dangle berry day in urologic land!
I am so glad it's over! Have you heard enough of my whining?!
How has your week been?
Bring on the party! Oh, and waiter! Can I get a 'double duty' dirty martini? LOL
I got a phone call from Walter, my mechanic, this afternoon who is out of town attending his girlfriend's nephew's wedding. It was nice of him to call ask about the car. I guess he was curious to see if the boys who were supposed to get that motor put in my car actually got 'er done! I don't think he was too surprised it wasn't done. I'm not surprised either, considering all this time they haven't done squat. Just today I was told they actually got the motor in, so they could replace it. Good Gawd Almighty!
Since I can't get anywhere, go ahead entertain me! I'm waiting... What's yer skill?!
Open Mouth, Insert Scream!
I am feeling a little on the grouchy side. I have had a most trying day, my shoulders are hurting, my bank account is bent, and I still don't have my car back.
and if that's not enough...
I haven't had any good lovins'...since I don't know when~
I think it all started when I woke up...and it went to hell from there. My only salvation is that tomorrow is Friday, at least some things will end.
Yes, today in the world of QA control it seems I lost all control. I was given a bunch of ob/gyn reports from a guy in Bumfucked, Egypt to decipher, like I know any in depth ob/gyn terminology. Not to mention, the roster sheets (the one with the names of the patients on them were inside outside upside down 7 pages of hell! to go through just to find a patient name)! Of course then you have to make sure you have the proper roster date pulled up!
He stutters, he stammers, God only knows what he wants, but I just want to choke him, and of course I'm frustrated that I can't pick up some of what he says either partly because of my inexperience with ob/gyn reports. I can tell you right now that this is a complicated area, the "female" terminology. I have only typed a handful of ob/gyn reports, which were basically discharge summaries which included some terminology, but not a lot. I don't know what brand name clamps they use for a pap smear, even though I get them (yes, my ob/gyn is actually the last guy that played the star spangled banner way down in Dixie)...but I sure felt my BP go up!
I am thinking if you want me to QA ob/gyn reports, don't you think I should get some experience with the terminology first?! Like give me some warning that on so-so date we would like you to try proofing ob/gyn and/or provide with me exam normals and materials to review beforehand that includes a lot of terminology so I can familiarize myself with it? I get nothing, no warning, no real samples. I hate feeling deficient and without the proper tools to do a good job. Let's just say it was very frustrating, and I was not a happy camper.
and if that classical tune plays one more time, I am going to kill it. In fact, I will go clamp that off directly with an Allis clamp!
Bring back the rock-n-roll, and make it loud to drown out my grumpiness.
Take a Walk...and Listen...
Music came before people because the wind came before people.
The wind plays with the leaves on the trees and makes music. One tree rubbing against another. Bark chafes bark, twigs flicking and tapping their neighbors, boughs and branches squawk and creak, a groan comes from the ground as roots take the strain of gusts that tug the trunks to bend and sway, swishing and booming like the ocean swell against a shore. Trees and wind make most wonderful windy woody music.
Long before the human species came wandering down this path, birds chirped and tinkled, crickets and grasshoppers chipped, and sharp squalls of rain fizzed and hissed upon the stones and upon the water.
The croaking of the frogs in my pond resonates back to times before the dinosaurs; millions, millions, millions, millions of frog generations have maintained that choir. The fruity voices of the finch and lap wingand the grunt of a raven; wild duck feeding at night, busy with courtship on moonlit water, cackling like mad goblins.
The soft mournful sigh of wind sweeping reeds and rushes; the lush whispering of conifers in a breeze; the crackle of broom exploding its seed pods on a hot fiery summer day; the innumerable voices of astream. There is meaning in this music. Even rocks and grass sing lullabies just forus, if we are quiet enough to hear.
In you is a song. Sing to me.
There is only one of you,and one of me~ and everything we know is worth knowing.
Yes, I choked this tune off (Yes there used to be a tune here) with an Allis clamp, or was that an Allen clamp?!
Still Car-Less...
I was told by Walter, my mechanic that I would 'probably' have my car today, but he is out of town for a wedding like he cares! Well, I called the fellers (who are in charge of this) and they said they were going to have to put a new motor in my car! DUH! Isn't this why my car has been MIA for nearly 3 weeks now?
It's almost like they're surprised?! What the hell have they been doing? Playing titt-ily winks?! Did they take my car on vacation while I sit carless and without any mode of transportation? The guy today told me that they had my car tore down, (no shit I'm thinking), and he initially thought they could selvage the motor, but after closer inspection a new motor will have to be put in he says. All this time I believed they WERE putting a motor in it! If the truth were known, I bet today was the first day they tore it down to even look at it! This is their second go around; if they had done their job the first time my car would not be back out there! One has gotta wonder if the lights on and there's anybody home.
It's a wonder I don't go stark raving mad! "Call back Friday ma'am"...Ma'am my ass! Dang 'em, Dang 'em, I oughta take a rope and hang 'em.
Tell me a joke or something.
Here's a few sayings that make me laugh~ got one? Post it in my comment section!

Classic Rock To Get Me Through The Week...
Get Ready! Get Set! Rock! (and it might be loud, but it's no good unless its loud, right?)
If this blog is rockin'... ain't no need for knockin'... just come on in and join the party! I know it's only Monday...but who cares! I am rockin' on this week.

I love classic rock of the 70's and 80's. Those were best of times! There were some damn good bands who gave us some great party and rollin' music! It brings back a lot of memories...I loved Boston, Steve Miller, Zeppelin, Kansas and the Who, Heart, Doobies while smokin' scooby doobies...too numerous to count!
I have to tell yuns sometimes living in rural Appalchia was so boring, we would herd cows stoned and rockin' as we cruised the country roads randomly...Yep! You'd be amazed if you 'moo'ed' at them cows they'd follow you for quite a stretch down the road! Those roads went on forever, too!
If you need to adjust the volume (cause at times it can be too loud even for me, here's the box, bottom right is a slide volume, square button is stop, adjust for your pleasure!)
here's a list of some artists you'll find in this box playin' full of classic rock, rock and roll, rock music, rock rolls, rock on bloggers! ~ with led zeppelin, the rolling stones, the who, the beatles, the doors, jimi hendrix, pink floyd, john kay and steppenwolf, zz top, aerosmith, lynyrd skynyrd, carlos santana, bad company, fleetwood mac, the eagles, queen, derek and the dominos, foreigner, blue oyster cult, black sabbath, creedence clearwater revival, grand funk railroad, allman brothers, yes, manfred mann, bob seger & the silver bullet band, bachman turner overdrive, bto, supertramp, 38 special, kansas, jefferson airplane, the hollies, cream, free, elvis presley, elo, electric light orchestra, doobie brothers, buffalo springfield, csny, boston, van morrison...
Do we have any classic rock fans in the house? Raise your hand and be counted!
While you're listening to some classic rock, can you find the 75 bands in this picture?
I found a bigger picture of this one below, so click here. Now I dare to name all of them!

1. Okay, let's start with the Smashing Pumpkins...lol...keep going...there's Matchbox 20...B-52's flying, Queen, Guns and Roses, White Zombies, is that Rolling Stones, or rolling boulders?...lol...Styx laying on the pavement...it'll take me all week to find these! but with the link now and a bigger picture I won't need a magnifying glass! ooo and I saw the Eagles...and there's Whitesnake climbing that utility pole! What's up with the Gorillas?...uh...
by the way, if you guys wanta see a Nugent video that is awesome, check this pad out..
Next Monday, we'll be tripping in Studio 54, perhaps you'll come along for the ride!
Monday's Grind...
Somebody tell me what "first aid" disease is!
I laughed outright about that one...looks to be a stellar day!
Here I am at lunchtime, and I hafta tell yuns, "first aid" disease was actually dictated as (no it wasn't fifths disease) it was prostate disease!
That's only a tip of a few bloopers I've encountered so far in my day~
Yep, my next report after lunch looks to be a doozey! I saw tons of ? (questions marks) left in there, God only knows what all...I'll let yuns know later.
She has short blonde hair and is alive!
which of course should have been "She has blonde hair and hazel eyes!"
and here's a good one for yuns ... This charge was dropped Mr. Meaner.
*insert laugh here* should have been typed "This charge was dropped to a misdemeanor!"
It's Monday, folks, time for these transcriptioninsts to wake up!
Tell me,
How is your Monday shaping up? I see Braja wants wine, but I guess she would at 9 hours past what is it now? 12:30 p.m. here; it's Monday at approx. 9:30 p.m. for her. Drink up girlie!
Over and out, it's time I got back to biz.
Unexplained Freaky...
So I answered a few emails tonight, and then I closed all my windows and decided to go lay down. I've had a headache all day; in fact, I woke several times through the night with my left nostril completely closed off, and despite meds it has persisted. All I wanted to do was go to bed (it's 9:30), but the strangest thing happened on the way to beddie-bye land.
Even with my browser closed and no windows open, jazz music is playing...
At first I thought there is glitch somewhere and will stop in a few seconds, but that has been over 10 minutes ago. I just listened to the music to see if there was something familiar about it, just tune into the freakishness so to speak.
I'm sitting here still trying to figure out what's going on, as this has never happened. I swear this house is haunted, folks or I am just going nuts! I called my friend Susie to let her know she got a bite on selling her lawnmower in my email (she is not puter savvy and agreed to use my email for her) and was telling her that music was playing and nothing was on or open, and I pulled the plug from my headset out of the computer to let her hear it, and she heard it playing...she laughs and says not again, & does the Twilight Zone theme taunt...and as soon as I plugged my headset back in, the music stopped; then my monitor screen shutdown. At this point, I'm still on the phone with Susie, and I told her I was going to shut the whole shebang down and bring it back up since I couldn't get the monitor to work, so I clicked off the electrical extension box and the light went off too, and I told her if anything touched me I was going to scream loudly and she was to call the authorities!
I guess I should just learn to live with these freakish distractions; it's not like they haven't happened before in different ways. Yeah, and I'm probably not going to sleep well either...
Rated G, It's Sunday For Goodness Sakes!
Children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: “Take only ONE. God is watching.” Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, “Take all you want - God is watching the apples!"

A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan, in which a man was beaten, robbed and left for dead. She described the situation in vivid detail so her students would catch the drama. Then she asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the roadside all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?"
A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence, "I think I'd throw up!"
An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him, "How do you expect to get into Heaven?"
The boy thought it over and said, "Well, I'll just run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, 'For Heaven's sake, Jimmy, come in or stay out!'"
A six-year-old was overheard reciting the Lord's Prayer at a church service: "And forgive us our trash passes as we forgive those who passed trash against us."
While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently his five-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said, "Glory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnnn. . . and into the hole you goooo."
Have a great day, bloggers!
a love sonnet..
Isn’t it tragic how two words as innocuous as lonely and sad can encompass a wide range of emotions? When thinking of you now, lonely comes to mind. Lonely and sad. Two words that should not ever come into the life of any human being, but always present it seems in today’s world. Too many people are lonely and sad even in their own love choice. I have joined the ranks of the lonely.
I'm soaring the sky,
I can hear the birds
And man they don't lie
How you gonna catch me when I'm this high
I'm moving on
I got the words to a brand new song
How you gonna catch me when I'm this gone
I wonder what feeling if any, will come over you when you realize that I am no longer present anymore in your life? I had spent so much effort and desire on you. I wasted nothing in telling you how much you meant to me~ folding you into the layers of my life, months came and now have gone, rarely did you ever go without hearing a word of love slip from my lips, or from my fingertips. I tried to show you in every way, shape, and form that I possibly could, I tried to ease the loneliness I felt you had in your life. Nights of sleeplessness spent calling to you, longing for you. You and I both know the feeling of unlovedness, as we have known one another's touch.
Gone tommorrow here today
Just in case you got somethin' to say
I'll be leaving with the rest if goodbye
Is all we have...
I disconnected the phone
Told the neighbors I'll be heading on
As soon as the light hits the lawn
I'm heading north
Gonna see what this heart's really worth
I guess it's time to be on my own
Your scent is almost gone now from within the folds of my mind. I can still smell you. I know your scent, even without the physical reminders of it. The scent of your passion burned into my mind and left an indelible mark that cannot be erased by the tides of time. Though your scent has faded in this present, it remains strong, within my heart and mind.
Gone tomorrow here today
Just in case you got somethin' to say
I'll be leaving with the rest if goodbye
Is all we have.
I sure would love to see you tonight
Maybe try to end this fight
If I don't hear you knockin on my door
Then I'll know for sure
You are the bittersweet and maddening sadness that engulfs me. You have replaced the freedom of the butterflies that flew across my heart each time I was near you with the continuous ache of loneliness. When I think of you now, it is with deep sadness. I have not really lost you~ you will always reside in my heart.
Gone tomorrow here today
Just in case you got somethin' to say
I'll be leaving with the rest if goodbye
Is all we have
Gone tomorrow here today
I'll be leaving with the rest if goodbye
Is all we have
Within your mind, the memories of me will play unexpectedly. You will feel the tug on your heart strings when a familiar song plays on the radio or a sweet perfume scents the air around you. When you feel sad and lonely, look for me there. You have not lost me. I am there, my darling love. I will always be there to console you when you are lonely and alone~ look for me, I am there with love, always there…
all my love~
This posting is merely a sonnet of life's pieces of love~ words written on paper from snippets of poems I've loved...and from the heart of someone who was never any good at goodbyes~
Dang IT !
I have been 12 days without my car. 12 whole days!
I am going insane! I didn't have a car last weekend, and I won't have a car this weekend. I would drag a bike out of my garage if there was one in there. It looks as though any bike that we had, has also disappeared out of the garage! I know who did that.
I called Walter, my mechanic, and he informed me that I might, (he said might) get my car back this Monday or Tuesday?! and of course, they don't have a loaner car for me to drive. If it wasn't for my friends who stopped by I would have starved to death already!
What happened to my car? It all started right around Memorial Day weekend, when my teen daughter drove my car dry of every fluid in it, and proceeded to try to drive it after that. Needless to say, she blew up my car motor. We like to never got it home, and in fact, she was police escorted home because she and a male friend of hers decided they would sleep in my car instead of calling me because she had taken my car without my knowledge, nor without a license. I did not the extent of damage until later, and I would also be shocked to learn that she had taken my car out many times without my permission which is probably why my fluids were so low and I didn't know because I don't drive it everyday as I work from home here.
That particular night I happened to pick up my keys after I realized that my car was not out front and she was gone; this was way after midnight. Come to find out were two keys which look identical upon first glance, but upon further inspection it became clear to me that she had switched this fake look alike key for my ignition key. Yeah, pretty clever, huh?
In July, I got a new motor put in it for 1100 bucks for a supposed cherry 40,000-mile motor, and drove it for a bit (about a good month and a half, not everyday), when I noticed it started missing, was still stinking like a melted crayon, so I thought enough was enough. Walter already knew I had complained of the smell, and I figured it was because of something they spilt and/or some seeding that needed to happen with the valves. Either or, this car was missing and still stinking, so I called Walter back, and told him to tell those boys that the car motor they put in it obviously was not of good quality or they figured I was stupid, and that I expected them to do the right thing with no cost to me. For all I know that motor could have had 200,000 miles on it, and it could have been likely that they got the wool pulled over their eyes if it didn't come from their selvage yard.
So, as it stands, I am car-less and bike-less in rural downtown Urbappalachia!
Nine-Eleven...
This date will always be an unusually solemn and contemplative one. I will just take a moment of silence in respect of those lives lost needlessly.
OK...
Decipher this..."I guess safety pins on what you say."
In The World of Transcription Today...
As I was listening to reports the doctor was describing what the patient was wearing...and I am reviewing what the transcriptionist typed as...
The claimant is wearing jeans, and an E-wear T-shirt?
What on God's earth is an E-wear (t-shirt)?
Of course I immediately knew what it was!
Go ahead bloggers, give it your best guess!
In the next report the doctor dictated the claimant had a Winnie-The-Pooh tattoo! I ain't saying where! but more than likely she has an E-wear t-shirt too! I'll betcha she does!
Oh, Pee On It.!
On the transcription scene today, 09/09/09, (it's not everyday you can type 090909) Yours Truly got to do more proofing than typing! Yay! all that typing yesterday wore me out! I actually proofed 7.5 hours out of 8 today. Nobody said a word about yesterday's blunder to me, but one has to wonder at performance evaluation time do they just spring that on ya?! Do you remember back in...09/09 of 09...LOL...It's not like they're paying me what I'm worth to begin with, so let's just leave that sleeping dog lie for now. I've had thoughts of running this redhead over in the parking lot when I worked in house over her snitch of attitude towards people and her repeat 'not so glowing' performance evaluations of my 'needing to improve' on stuff I hardly ever did or was even trained on?! How can you become efficient on something if you never do it?! Accent the negative, and expect the positive?! Yeah, we hissed and pissed over a few things, and I'm sure she misses no longer having me under her jurisdiction! Shall I shut up my barking now? No! I ain't done yet...
I was a bit miffed today about the irregularity of test formats, once again. Obviously these template samples need to be tweeked to eliminate discrepancy and any question in the mind of the transcriptionist on how to format them. It drives me nuts! All the supervisor says is that the instructions for typing WV reports is on the TurboFlow instructions...yeah right...I should know I've typed these reports for years now, and there is still discrepancies and "babied" dictators...ugh! It used to be that all our work was done in-house, so any transcriptionist working was trained to do the reports by good samples and in-house QA and being a smaller unit it became common knowledge who wanted this, and which doctor preferred that, etc.; however, now with over 1000 transcriptionists all across the country, most working from home, the samples need updating in my opinion as some of these people pulling up the samples won't know these insider tips and how could they?! Most of the time the information is left in the head of the supervisor for that particular division! This is gonna drive me to drinkin' and QA'ing at the same time! I swear!!! It's a good thing we don't have to pass a drug or urine test! and speaking of which, it brings to mind an email I got recently.
I can't imagine doing my job impaired, that wouldn't even be funny! However, my son worked for the State Road Department, and now works for a State Correctional Facility and it is imperative he undergo urine testing, such as would be the case for many jobs I would imagine, especially those requiring its workers to be on the highways. I had to agree with the contents of this email, cause I got a son-in-law, and a daughter who have been on and off drugs and lived off the system for years, and it infuriates me to no end! I found that email, here it is...
Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem). What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass - doing drugs, while I work! Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I think I'll rinse that one down with a shot of cold chocolate milk!

Ruff-Ruff Dog Day...
Sometimes I hate long weekends because in our business it will usually take overtime to catch up. Today I felt like such a dog and...
I am in need of petting bloggers...to soothe my wounded pride. Obviously my mind was playing hookey today, still in the gutter somewhere. This morning due to workload, I was needed to type reports, which I did for seven hours, but did QA for one hour early this morning.
However, after having typed my 11th report, okay take notice here, 11th...LOL... I happen to notice that my date said 09/24/2009? What? How on God's earth? ... The date is pretty much automated on this system we use, so you have to really be looking in just the right place to notice it. I was shocked!@*!#*!! What happened to my clock? Today is not the 24th of September, or otherwise this month has gone by rather darn fast?! I felt like I was on that prank show and at the last minute they would let me in on it, LOL, but this was no joke, the date was so very wrong. I felt nauseated....and...
I was so embarrassed to obviously see that not only my clock was displaying the wrong date, but it took me half the day to realize it?! I immediately notified personnel to pull up the reports and fix them if possible. I would gladly have fixed the reports myself if I could have gotten to them and pulled them up on my own time, but I guess somebody else will fix them. Let's hope so.
I guess I will be inspected for quality assurance myself, and will probably be put on QA notice!!!
Talk about embarassment and wounded pride. I guess when I found my hooty-wild 3 year old grandson hitting keys wildly and having to hit Escape the other day... little did I know that perhaps he hit something to screw it up, or perhaps it occurred when I was looking to see what dates the paychecks would fall on as to rob Peter to pay Paul in the bill department. More than likely it was an error on my part because you have to right click to even get the clock to come up!
Anyway, I have no excuse for not realizing this error and fixing it earlier. It's a good thing I averaged over 300 lines per hour today! They still love me...don't they?!
A Captured Moment, take two...
Their eyes melted into a world far from the restaurant where they sat, these two unlikely individuals brought together by chance – and caught by fate.Intense dark eyes locked into hers as she brought both hands to the table and he began to lightly stroke the tips of her small finger… slowly, in a hypnotic trance, she turned her palm upward, facing his – body heat merged in the air between them. Supported with wrists on the table, an invisible current became almost tangible as they continued - they could feel it – real as any touch – but their hands never came together completely.
He saw her nakedness in the depth of black pupils staring into his – and finally – unable to resist any longer – he pressed his fingers gently against hers. She couldn’t take her eyes away – absorbed in the fluidity of seduction, drowning without even attempting to save herself. His touch was warm, inviting – she slipped her fingers, one by one, between his… stroking up and down, caressing him.
He closed his hands around hers – the connection was so powerful she felt branded with his fingerprints. They moved ever so slightly, in tandem, like a soft glove that soothed them inside out… his fingers sliding down to the sensitive inner skin at the knuckle, then pulling away…and back up to the tiny fingertips.
Her mind was not at the table, but with him… in another place, where he touched past her flesh…and penetrated her subconscious until she surrendered to him.
He wrapped her fingers into each other, embracing the soft fists again in his strong grasp, squeezing tenderly, stroking the sides with his thumbs… and she suddenly felt the uncontrolled rush deep inside her belly, yearning for him… blood racing through every vein in a flood of undeniable passion.
Looking into his eyes - deep chocolate brown pools where the infinity of pleasure enveloped her like a rising tide - her fingers slipped seductively into his palm and he led her up and away from the table, tossing a tip on the white cloth, nodding to the waiter. She turned a few heads as they walked out, and he held tightly to the hand now tucked under his arm, always keeping her close… remembering… anticipating the darkness of night.
Heart beating wildly, she followed him, his strength much more than physical. He had captured her once more… what was it about him?
Sparked simply by touch, uncomplicated sensuality burns fervently out of control into a roaring inferno – climbing the towering peak, ecstasy would be the only escape.
Only a touch – nothing more, nothing less – stirring the senses into an erotic, fiery dance.
I am just having one of those weekends, bloggers..LOL...nothing a little skin surfing couldn't cure! Would you prefer I just keep them to myself and just shut up already? .. .perhaps I should file them into a blog of steamy daydreams and/or spent memories...
Try to Explain Your Injury To Workers Compensation...
I know, I know, doesn't this reinforce your belief that idiots do exist?!
a captured moment...
Sluggish descending sunset slips beneath an impressive horizon, vibrant colors exhibit orange, red, yellow, blue, pink, purple, now fading.
Kerosene lanterns softly shimmering, casting alluring shadows. Subtle romantic melodies create intimate ambience. Cuddling, snuggling, embracing, one another, on a soft red, velvety settee.
Windows of chocolate melting into green, as the sky fades into darkness, entirely mesmerized, devouring simple moments of love.
What The Funk?

I have to tell yuns I love the funk, the funk, about every kind of funk!
I'll listen to about any kind of funk, from A Bag of Goodies by Mickey & The Soul Generation, the Temptations' Puzzle Pieces album, Don Julian and the Larks "Shorty & The Pimp," to the Jelly Roll Kings, even the sweet jazz funk love of 'Ivan' Boogaloo Joe Jones! I've been listening to the Motown sounds of the late 60s and 70s which was the height of psychedelic "message" funk that birthed into the world of Disco!
and also interesting to me, is the home furnishings of the funkadelic era, like this bathroom! Can ya dig it?

okay, what would be really cool in this bathroom is if the white circle back there had a shower that could enclose itself with doors like on the Starship Enterprise! LOL... Get your funk on in this bathroom!
Are there any funk fans out there?
This last FM box is mostly jazz funk, but last FM has all kinds of funk, just type in an artist and you can make your own box. You can always check out MOG for funk too. I also made two or three funk playlists at Finetune, you can listen to those by clicking on my finetune box on the left side down there. (p.s. if you want to change the song that's playing to find one more to your funk likin' then push the very top right arrow thingy!)
Funk On, Bloggers ~!
