 Sundays...

When I was growing up, Sundays usually meant big Sunday meals, church, and perhaps a visit from the preacher.  Ours was a fairly big family at 8, and oftentimes the preacher would just stop by and hang out, some were commissioned by the church to home visit, some were pretty cool actually, all affiliated with the First Baptist Church. The older I have become, the more I stray from organized religion, I don't know if because we were 'made to go' but at the same time however it did give us a sense of knowing we are not alone in this infinite space, not unlike so many  today whose feet have never graced a church floor.  I at this juncture do not feel the need to pursue organized religion again, but some people benefit from it. Do you go to church every Sunday?

Bare...

Long summer nights are all but a distant memory
as now winter looms near.
The radiant beams of a sun once hot
has nearly all but disappeared.
The flowers that bloomed are now in slumber
and birds have fled their nests.
The trees are bare with naked bark
their leaves have fallen off one by one to the ground.

Today I ventured out into my leaf landscaped front yard to clean it up. All around me the trees were bare, the sun was nice, a beautiful day. I realized upon closer inspection that my rake was broken, so I couldn't get the job done. My neighbor had a couple of other neighbors down who lived down the block picking up her leaves (which have become mine also) so they offered to do my yard as well. Hope you guys have had a nice weekend.

Mondays come way too quick for me.

By the way, if anybody has tried to stop by my music hangout, I had a setting messed up, my apologies. Here's the link, feel free to come on over to The Lounge

You want a funny ghost tale?

This weekend I've been rather lazy and resting way too much.  I took a Flexeril for muscle aches on Friday, and I've felt hungover for two days! This is worse kind of hangover...

Anyway, speaking of ghostly tales, I tune into A&E, as they have some pretty good shows, including their show called, "I Survived." Talk about horror stories that actually happen to REAL people. Watching that show puts me in a panic mode if I hear a noise around this house, and believe me, this house is noisy! I could swear at times in this house I"m not alone, and being awakened one time by a hand or fingers that sort of raked out from my neck to my shoulder waking me out of a sound sleep, let me know that somebody was trying to get my attention!

yeah...luckily that has not happened since, I took it as being a message to see a doctor about my health at the time because I was barely functioning and sleeping all the time.  I was so exhausted.  My girlfriends tell me its John, that he's still here they say because he loved me so much that even death couldn't keep him away.  I sometimes ponder that.

My ex-husband, John, who died of cancer in August 2006, used to come by that summer and lounge in my livingroom while I worked in the next room, my dining room.  I used to tease him about dying in my lounge chair with his feet propped up. He breathed rather heavily so I would know if he stopped breathing, and I'd holler in there at times teasing him that if he died in my chair, "I'd kill him!"  We laughed.   He only lived for 9 months following the diagnosis. We had divorced two years before the diagnosis but had remained friends, good friends even though living together was a strain.

After 9 years in my life, I never expected him to be taken away from us. He always felt like this was his house...he was comfortable here...loved here...and he's still here I feel.  His loss changed me in ways I had never thought.  Outside of the rake of fingers on my shoulder, I have heard his breathing here, I know this sounds weird but true, and I have smelled his cigarette smoke on occasion. Now that I think about it, the smoke would come at times of family stress. John was always the peacemaker, hated fights, especially between me and my oldest daughter. Our relationship was and still is rather strained. However, hearing his breathing, which was all too familiar, was the absolute weirdest, and I even had to get up and go check to satisfy my own mind that I was NOT crazy!! but don't be telling people that...unless they experience things themselves they'll think you're nuts...I've had other things happen to me that I can't explain...but...

I guess I am okay with whoever might happen to inhabit my living space, as long as its not a resident evil ...but having an intruder in the middle of the night through one of my doors or windows would definitely be frightening! As a woman living alone, I have no defense.  I can only hope and pray that doesn't happen, or the 'ghosts' protect me? uh...yeah...right...lol...

I need to quit watching this spooky stuff, and I will right after all the Halloween spooky specials are over! Nothing like watching the old scary favs...right? like Night of the Living Dead and Psycho, etc...or watching an Alien marathon?

Do you enjoy watching scary flicks?!

Rambling Rosie...Who Sang That?

I stayed up way too late watching TV, and sleeping in without a phone call too early on a Sunday is a blessing! I'm out surfing around, my favorite thing to do.  I love checking out bloggers, and following links to find new and interesting blogs. Once you start exploring you can get lost for way too long, and housework just falls by the wayside, am I right?! LOL...

On my sidebars, there are a few Blogstream friends, and Blogger friends, that you guys should check out if you're so inclined. Blogger is vast. Blogstream to me didn't seem to be that way; it was more controlled with no great choice of blog templates and/or all the other perks Blogger offered. Blogstream was more intimate it seemed than Blogger; esp. the earlier days of Blogger, as it seemed harder to navigate back when, and since has become easier. I don't know whether this is because I learned to navigate Blogger better, I would assume so; either way, I feel comfortable in my blogging skin, and I appreciate all of you who stop in and make me feel a part of Blogger!  I love all the comedians over here!

Today is Sherry of "Raindrops" birthday, so if I haven't been around, it's cause I'm playing at Blogstream today.  Sherry also has a blog over here, "Gawd Dang Lucky Frogs." My friend, Scratch who has two blogs listed on my sidebar, Echoes and Scratch's Bar & Grill, and there's Ice On the Windshield" all of whom are great writers. Scratch is into fiction and all are deserving of book deals I tellya. Also I couldn't forget Fairweather Lewis, who blogs the best spook stories ever! Maybe you guys would enjoy them, so check out some of these Blogstream bloggers sometimes if the mood strikes.  Yep, some of us 'blogstreamers' started blogs over here a long time back but found it difficult to navigate and develop blogships with others here; however, I don't feel that way anymore. I enjoy the diversity of blog community both here and at Blogstream. Isn't that the way it is? You start blogging somewhere and then you drift off and try other places...even Twitter and Facebook. I lost interest in the twitting phenomenon, not my thing really, nor Facebook.

I have a teen who has quite a social network that I try to keep a handle on, so I have accts with almost every social network whether I use them or not, usually I'm just looking in on her, as she is everywhere I don't want her to be! I guess I really don't have room to talk as I seem to be everywhere too. You'd think I'd make up my mind about a blog home, but then again, it's a woman's prerogative not to, right?! Gee, and how time has passed already! Gotta get that laundry done! See yuns, have a great Sunday!

Sunday Ramblings...

Beautiful warm days bring back memories of love in the springtimes of my life. It puts a renewed freshness in our hearts for that special someone! God knows I used to know about love, or so I thought, but sometimes I wonder if I will ever truly feel it again as I once did.

Here's where I bellow out with the chorus~feel free to join in! lol

"Love Is A Many Splendored Thing.."

Is it?

All I know is … “If it aint free, it aint love.”
If you don’t feel it, you can’t fake it; because love always reveals itself sooner or later.

For some I think the hardest part of love is just the acceptance of it, and not having to feel there are conditions to keep it. Love is not being expected to perform for one another, or telling each other what to do. I try to explain this to my 17 year old who is just beginning her dating experiences. She has had a very controlling and manipulative father, so I know she is at risk for an abusive relationship and I want to empower her.

If you feel like you have to do something to keep it, it ain’t love; remember that love fosters love.

Love doesn’t ever say it’s sorry, and is always compassionate. It is the silent communion of serenity, warmth and mutual security of kindred spirits.

Love is like a soft wind on a crisp fall or early spring day that cools the heat of the sun and brings the fragrance of the earth to our hearts. Love understands silently.

Love expects nothing and gets a return investment!

And last but not least, love has absolutely nothing to do with the toilet seat!

btw, who sang the original, "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing?"
