Past Loves

Its strange to get a phone call that someone you once loved passionately and with whom you had a child together is sick and dying in a hospice facility of pancreatic cancer.  It brings to the surface those feelings you shared, the memories, the good and bad times.  He was the first guy I ever truly loved.  I was already a young mother with a 5 year old and he played the part of fatherhood well.  Those were some of the best times of my young adulthood.

At only 57 years of age he died the day after Christmas.  Even after all the years that have passed between us he shared fond memories of us together with my daughter who visited him a few days before Christmas.  She was reluctant to go even though he is her biological father, as he has not been there for her growing up.  She was his first born child but he chose his path with another, only later to regret his choices he confided to her.  I remember the hurt immensely over the betrayal and the lack of responsibility to parent his first-born, but I learned to pick up my life and move on....and so it goes.

Love is a rush,

a whirlwind,

the scent

of a summer rose...

a whistle blowing

on a distant track

and when it goes ...

it goes...

Christmas...

If you could have what your heart desired for Christmas, what would that be?

First thing I think about is 'being in love...having that special someone to always rely on' but then again my head says, are you stupid?  Wish for money, then you buy all the love you want!...and a good handyman in Lowe's...yeah right...

I got a leak in some piping somewhere downstairs, drip, drip, drip...ugh!

Merry Xmas, bloggers!

The Best Christmas Present ever!

Well, they changed our insurance this year to Aetna; the best I could select out of the offered options was 80/20 with a $2000 deductible.  Our new insurance coverage started in September.  I didn't realize that I would have to pay a $2000 deductible if I had any healthcare costs this year, but it appears that the deductible starts again in January.

Facing these bills I wondered financially how I would come up with $2000 bucks? Make payments for 45 years? LOL.  Well when I learned I had gallbladder disease which was causing all of its evil problems, I had to have an ultrasound; had a prior chest x-ray a few months ago after the new insurance took effect, and that bill was a whopping 500 dollars and then the ultrasound it was 800; Yes this is after my insurance paid diddly squat.  I found out that my deductible had to be met, so I contemplated putting off surgery until January but it had been too long now.  So next was the surgery.  Want to guess the cost of that robot assisted cholecystectomy?

Price tag:  $14,000; this was not an overnight stay, just a check-in at 9:15 for outpatient surgery; kept waiting till nearly 11:30 before I even got it done, and then home by 4 PM.  Yep, that's a whopper of a bill racking up.

I decided when I had the ultrasound done that I would apply for financial aid at the local hospital which is also the place I got the ultrasound done as well.  I was sweating bulllets waiting for hear if I was approved for a percentage off and today I got the best Christmas present given to me this year!

I was approved for 100%, which means everything my insurance does not pay, the hospital will write it off.  Talk about a happy camper today, yep! I'm not sick any more and I won't have the thousand dollar expenses, the best Xmas present ever! and this runs consecutively for 2 years, which means if I have any other procedures or surgeries or whatever, I won't have to worry about a bill.  Wonderful news, eh?

2 days postop

Well, I had surgery Monday to take out this gallbladder which had stones in it, and has pretty much made me feel bad the last few months.  I underwent a robotic-assisted single incision gallbladder removal.  The surgeon was fairly young, (looks like Nate Appleman) and had only done about 40 of them, so I was a little worried.  Today is the first day that pain medication is allowing me to move without screaming! It was rough going that first day and the 2nd day, especially that morning after surgery when I woke up, nauseated, had to pee, and my insides felt like they were being torn apart as I tried to get up! Good thing my neighbors couldn't hear me screaming and cursing! LOL

I guess its back to work for me tomorrow.  I should have taken off the whole week, but I'll try to work it; I know my boss has a mess going on, that I'll have to help get cleaned up!  Hope you guys are having a stellar week.

ROFLMAO!

Heard of a vulvar aggressive female?

yeah...well

you have now!

you can't make this stuff up, what MTs think they hear, or the speech rec engine spits it out, regardless, its hilarious!

that's one of the best workday funnies I've had in a while!

Thanksgiving...

Many things have been said about Thanksgiving's ability to unite family, remind us of what we have and comfort us with great food before the long winter, but some of the best (and worst) things about the holiday have been said by comedians. Let's face it: as wonderful as the holiday may be, a day dedicated to football, gluttony and awkward family moments with a questionable origin provides more than enough material for a joke. Check out these quotes about Thanksgiving from a few comedians you'll probably recognize!

Jon Stewart: "I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land."

Jim Gaffigan: "Thanksgiving. It's like we didn't even try to come up with a tradition. The tradition is, we overeat. 'Hey, how about at Thanksgiving we just eat a lot?' 'But we do that every day!' 'Oh. What if we eat a lot with people that annoy the hell out of us?'"

Stephen Colbert: "Thanksgiving is a magical time of year when families across the country join together to raise America's obesity statistics. Personally, I love Thanksgiving traditions: watching football, making pumpkin pie, and saying the magic phrase that sends your aunt storming out of the dining room to sit in her car."

Kevin James: "Thanksgiving, man. Not a good day to be my pants."

Jack Handey: "If you're at a Thanksgiving dinner, but you don't like the stuffing or the cranberry sauce or anything else, just pretend like you're eating it, but instead, put it all in your lap and form it into a big mushy ball. Then, later, when you're out back having cigars with the boys, let out a big fake cough and throw the ball to the ground. Then say, 'Boy, these are good cigars!'"

Jay Leno: "You can tell you ate too much for Thanksgiving when you have to let your bathrobe out."

Johnny Carson: "Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often." hahaha!

George Carlin: "We're having something a little different this year for Thanksgiving. Instead of a turkey, we're having a swan. You get more stuffing."

Greg Proops: Ever since you're little you hear this: 'The pilgrims left England to escape religious persecution and sneak religious freedom into the new world.' But even when you're little you're like, 'Umm.. Bullsh*t?'"

David Letterman:  When I was a kid in Indiana, we thought it would be fun to get a turkey a year ahead of time and feed it and so on for the following Thanksgiving.  But by the time Thanksgiving came around, we sort of thought of the turkey as a pet, so we ate the dog.  Only kidding.  It was the cat!

Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!

was there really a good choice?

I started watching the polls after I had worked all day and while I am not a republican, Romney won the State of Kentucky. Go figure, rednecks, white socks, Republicans and Blue Ribbon beer!  Perhaps Obama can actually get  a few things accomplished in the next 4, who knows, but it sure beats the alternative.

Well lets see what do I have in the kitchen here, I got some broccoli, boneless chicken, chicken bouillon cubes...uhmmm...I think there might be some noodles in there somewhere, maybe some mushrooms I could saute and throw in...that should do, shouldn't it? can't forget the onions, garlic, whatever...lets see what happens!

yum! lunch!

what Dreams are made of...

Sometimes I ponder why I dream just nonsensical stuff, then at other times, its so vivid and real, and stuff that has a correlation to my waking hours.  There perhaps are plenty of people wondering the same thing, searching on Google for answers...LOL...

but I know, for me, dreams often have such a profound significance and stay with me, especially those reoccurring dreams that I will get every once in a while.  No matter how much you wished someone would wake you up, you keep on with the storyline, like something is sucking you in, and not only does it come that night, but the next night, and the night after.  Sometimes you can alleviate it by truly looking at your situation in your waking hours.  Perhaps you need to make a decision about something, change your direction.  Try to change the ending of a nightmare that recurs right before you fall asleep.

I've had a few dreams that I thought were nonsense, however come to find out they had not happened yet.  It was like watching a movie in rewind.  Oh, I already know how this turns out.  I've been known to surprise a few people by telling them stuff they think I didn't already know which sometimes could land me in hot water.  Other times I just get that, "How did you know?" Oh, just a lucky guess.  Right.

Speaking of luck, I haven't been lucky enough to hit the lottery, or dream the winning numbers, LOL, but I do seem to have pretty good luck.   There have been a few instances in which I narrowly escaped bodily injury due to a failing car operating system, or by using intuition to get out of a situation or place quickly, so I trust myself to feel, and act upon it if I feel the need to do so.  I think you have to 'tune in.'  I think we all have that ability to perceive bad vibrations, bad karma, size up people we don't necessarily know.

As far as your dreams, do you dream in color? Don't know? I find dreams interesting, do you?  I haven't had any recurring nightmares lately, but when I was in an unhappy marriage I did, interesting how when you change your life circumstances you dreams change too! Dreams really do reflect the state of the heart.

ahhhhh...September

What is significant about September to you?

Outside of the horrific event in New York on 9/11, September holds no special anniversarys, birthdays or deaths personal to me, but it does hold the memories of loves past.  August is always a hard month for me, a lot of deaths in my family in this month, and on the opposite spectrum a lot of joys.  For example, both my grown daughter and son were born in August.  Actually, my son was born on the day we buried my brother; he was only 15 at the time, killed as the result of an automobile accident.  Funny how out of 8 people involved in that wreck, he was the only one that perished.  I also lost my father and my best friend in the month of August.  I remember all of the events of those days like it was yesterday, just as the memories of 9/11 floods our minds; the events of that day changing an entire nation.

September is a reprieve from the madness for me that is August, and from this hot, humid summer weather, and I totally look forward to having the last week of this month off, from the 21st through October 1st.  I think I will schedule a short trip to the nearest nature park, and perhaps travel a few hours to see my son and his wife or my sister in Cincinnati.  I do have some business affairs I need to get in order, and just take the time to contemplate my life where it is at this juncture, without the everyday grind and give thanks for what I do have.  One has to prepare for the seasons of life ahead should we be allowed another day, another week, another year.

If I based my lifespan on those of my parents, I would say I have less than 10 years of my life to live.  At my age people die everyday from things they didn't know they had wrong with them, a finding of cancer, a heart attack, etc...and scarier would be the thought of a debilitating stroke as it does run in my family.  While I am not necessarily a health fanatic or in the best physical shape I could be in, I would rate my health as average for my age.  However, you can't prepare for a sudden death, debilitating event, or for news that your life is going to be over in a few short months, nor can you know how you would feel if facing it until you actually had to.  I am not one who fears death necessarily, but I am willing to put up a fight.  In the realm of everyday hell that life can bring, wouldn't death be a sort of reprieve?  Death looks as though it is the end, but is it? I think not. Oh and why did this post take such a right turn? Don't ask me, I merely blog off the top of my head here.  Feel free to take up the discussion where I left off...

Labor Day ...

I wished.

I worked all dag gone day.

I gotta put in for some vacation time, or I am going to lose it.

Lets see...

I can carry over a week into the new year.

A week a month that should do it.

yeah, and considering the way employees have come and gone this year, even some with 20 years experience, I should take every bit of my vacation otherwise this next year when my turn comes and I get whacked, I won't get a chance to take it...LOL...and will have kicked my own ass in hindsight...

lalala...Monday...ugh...

and I get stuck with some doctor who slurs every word he says just about, and the Review of Systems the MT was putting there was not what he dictated, but then again I was just suppose to check format, not wording, but it is pathetic that this MT has been doing this client all this time and she admitted he said what he did to start one sentence that he slurs horribly, but she was not typing it, nor had she bothered to check into why that sentence she was using was an incomplete one. fabulous. some days I hate this job. Oh, and we are having to resubmit paperwork for new insurance. The good thing is that they offer a Long Term Disability option and that's a gr8 thing I did sign up for, after all this stress will catch up with me, and bills will still need paid when I have a heart attack! LOL

I need some TLC...

...actually my knees need it more.  They still continue to give me grief over the least little time spent upright and standing.  I never used to have to contemplate worrying how much walking I would incur, or feeling disabled at not being able to walk as much as I want to, but that reality is ever present any time I put my feet to the floor here in the last week.  Sherry gave me the name of a supplement, and my sister says to get some glucosamine chondroitin, but I have to walk to get it, right?

The only thing in the house right now is Aleve, so I've been taking that without any improvement whatsoever, so my question is, even if I invest in these OTC supplements will I still be able to walk again without paying for it...LOL...the key is to get enough in your system I guess.  The gardener says I need to ice them, stay off, and quit pushing myself to walk on them, that I am only causing more inflammation.  God knows I cannot just lay down and do nothing! So, here in a little while I am going to force myself into WalMart and get a supplement and see if it helps.

Seriously though, I think its time for a trip into see a professional, if I cannot get any relief here with a supplement after another week.  I had one knee injected years ago because of a tear, which helped and no more pain until just here recently.  If this is arthritis for real, I don't want it.  This pain is gnawing, throbbing, and unforgiving.  When faced with coming down the steps, it used to be one foot in front of the other without thinking, but I have had to rethink that and do the one leg at a time step shuffle, its sad truly.  Just when you try to get healthy by walking to lose a few extra pounds, your knees give up on ya, those bitches!.

Its not like I'm trying to aerobisize myself to death by jumping up and down, and/or contorting my body into strange views no one else would ever need to see including me, I just want to feel better and walk normally without pain.  Is that asking too much?

Maybe I should pick up some of those Salon Pas, as I am really not into icing body parts either.  Too bad you just can't go in a store and order up a new pair of knees! Gimee love, gimme gimme pain free!

oh and more wonderful news, I developed a headache this afternoon, and taking Aleve has not phased it either.  If I didn't know better, I'd say somebody has made me into a voodoo doll and is sticking pins in my body...gawd...

I think I am just going to go to bed and flush this day away.

movie review and other irrelevant news...

The Odd Life of Timothy Green, was a little odd and a little sad, but overall it was Disney movie, and what does one really expect from a Disney movie? besides a happy ending, yeah, something like that.  Isabella said it was kind of sad but she got the meaning behind it.

what day is it? Wednesday already? wow...

For the last several days my knees are acting out really badly, to the point where trying to walk a mile everyday is just becoming impossible.  I am thinking that perhaps a shot of cortisone to each knee might be in order so I can walk without feeling crippled, and I can sleep at night without having the throbbing pain.

Have I tried ibuprofen? Yes, but it plays havoc with my stomach and I am not a fan of taking stuff like that around the clock.  It's a little after six, about that time to attempt that mile, so I am going to give it a try, don't know if I am going to make it.

On the work front, we have more and more work and it seems less people to get er done.

Today was also Isabella's first day in the 5th grade.  She likes her teacher, Mr. Kennard, but then again its just the first day, right?  She is also a Safety Patrol monitor this year, so she has to be there before 7:20 a.m., so guess who has to walk her? yeah...me, the cripple.  LOL

its Sunday....

 movie time!

Bella and I are going to see a new release...Of course when you have a 10 year old in the house your choices are limited, but it should be a cute Disney movie.

I would like to see Hope Floats, has anybody seen it?  My daughter said it made her cry, and she's 20.   Of course she tried to drag me to see Magic Mike, but I have yet to see it, but Bobbi has seen in 4x already, and can't wait for the video to come out! Me? I don't care about seeing hot naked men dance, nope not me...LOL

Anyway have a great Sunday afternoon ya'll!

is it Thursday?

Bring it on! I cannot wait until this week is over! I'm exhausted.  We have way too much work and not enough of a crew to get 'er done, so I've had to work way too hard these last few weeks.  I might need to put me in for some vacation time here soon! yeah, September, perfect time.

Today stupid me, went to take Bella to the YMCA, walked out with my billfold, leaving my damn keys in the house and before I got off the porch realized I didn't have my damn car keys nor the house key and not a spare in sight! Well you can imagine my dismay and charging price for locksmith $50.00 but luckily I got back inside the house after about an hour a half!

My boss just laughed about it.  I have way too many things going on, but forgetting my keys and locking myself out of my house was just the beginning of my crappy day.  Isabella is so attached to my I-phone that she can hardly keep her hands off it, so she is in the process of withdrawal symptoms and cranky! Its been one more day.

The only good thing about my workday Wed. was that its over! and my new haircut is frickin' awesome! So what if I'm 75 bucks down today?! I'm worth it...LOL

Sick of those commercials...

...where some overly educated individual comes on, pats themselves on the back for their accomplishments,  and says "I am a Phoenix."

Well I guess if you ain't a Phoenix you ain't nuthin...

So, I made me this little poster motivator...

Sometimes its nice to remember that life is an opportunity to make the most of what you do have and thrive in the worst of conditions, that's a true Phoenix.  Her name is Ruby if your interested in a damn good read, click here.

Hiya blogworld here are some amazingly simple home remedies that you can try if you find yourself in a quandry of these sorts...

IF YOU'RE CHOKING ON AN ICE CUBE, DON'T PANIC, SIMPLY POUR A CUP OF BOILING WATER DOWN YOUR THROAT. PRESTO! THE BLOCKAGE WILL INSTANTLY REMOVE ITSELF.

HAVE A BAD TOOTHACHE? SMASH YOUR THUMB WITH A HAMMER AND YOU'LL FORGET ALL ABOUT THAT PESKY TOOTHACHE.

AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP.

A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

REALLY WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

HERE'S A THOUGHT THROWN IN: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

I love this show...

I seriously don't see a clear winner yet with this set of 6 left. Do you?

Monday, Monday...

 and phone shenanigans!

I get a phone call from Isabella's mother stating Isabella had called "Vickie" a mutual friend of ours, and asked her to pick her up at Central Park.  Funny thing, Bella went to the YMCA day camp today.  Her mother was frantic thinking she was not at the Y, but was at the park.  I assured her that Isabella was at the Y, and obviously making prank or show-off phone calls because my cellphone was missing in action!

She says she was 'showing off' to her friends, but lost phone privileges because of it.  I told her that this immaturity and outright lying was just another good reason why she did not need a cellphone for real at 10 years of age!  I told her that a lie is a lie, and to ask a grownup to come pick you up in front of your friends or without permission from me as her guardian was inappropriate and if someone had tried to pick her up without permission...well..that is why they have safeguards in place. She had told Vickie that she was at the park with her mother and Wyatt. When Vickie asked to talk to her mother, Isabella hung up on her. I told her that nobody has permission to pick her up without being on the list. Clearly, a case of shenanigans and little white lies with resultant loss of playing her apps on the phone!  The nerve of these kids!

Can you pass the conditioner please?

on this date...

Marilyn Monroe died.  The iconic sex symbol and 1950s blonde bombshell was just 36 when she died on Aug. 5 1962.  Marilyn Monroe's death was classified as a suicide. But questions about whether she was actually murdered persist, on the eve of the 50th anniversary of her passing. Rebecca Jarvis and Terrell Brown asked author and Marilyn Monroe expert Jim Baker for his view.

American actress Marilyn Monroe poses in 1959 for the photographers at La Guardia Airport before flying to Chicago, for the presentation of her film "Some Like It Hot".
Marilyn Monroe a few weeks before she died on Aug. 5, 1962 at the age of 36.

The actress, famous for such films as "The Seven Year Itch" and "Some Like It Hot," was found dead in her Brentwood, Calif., home of a drug overdose. The circumstances of her death have been the subject of much speculation over the years.

Marilyn Monroe is shown in the first photo taken of her in the famous white dress from the "The Seven Year Itch." For a brief scene in "The Seven Year Itch," in September 1954, her character strolls on a Manhattan street on a stifling summer evening.

When a subway rattles beneath her, Marilyn stands astride a sidewalk vent to catch a cool breeze that swirls her skirt up around her waist.

Lucky Me...

Well, somebody from the City, whom I know because he is he husband of one of the girls I work with, came by to finish painting the deck railing that the Repair Fair did not complete.  Its a great program for those who live in the city limits, they will pressure wash your house, do any needed outside repairs, and a few years back I got steps built for my deck which wasn't here when I moved here.  Of course your income is considered, but since I'm a homeowner with no second income they usually come about every year.  This next year he tells me to call up cynthia down there and tell her I need a roof over my front porch, we noticed it had moss growing on it.

When I opened the door to greet him in, he happened to notice my ceiling in the livingroom and said do you have a leak? I hadn't noticed, hadn't heard any dripping, but there appeared a stain and it looked wet, and I thought oh gawd, not a leak in the roof!!  He said is the bathroom above this? I said no...He said well its possible you could have a leaking roof.  The guy with him said no, he thought it might be from the air conditioner upstairs and I thought how could that happen, that air conditioner is in a window on the other side, it just didn't make sense.  Upon closer inspection the one guy says yes! its the air conditioner, so they went upstairs to look and sure enough instead of draining the water out it was leaking inside and had run under my bed and obviously causing wetness to include the livingroom ceiling.  I hadn't noticed it leaking inside the room at all.  God only knows how long that had been happening.

Wow! what a lucky find that was.  Two guys who come to paint my deck, end up fixing my air conditioner, moving it to another window, took apart the unit and cleaned it, and said hopefully that will resolve it, but they told me to call them if it did not. We noticed the air conditioner draining well from the outside. They only got a little painting in because it clouded up again and started to sprinkle.  I guess God works in mysterious ways, knew I had a whole other problem, and sent two guys to fix it!

and this deep male voice says...

"Your number came up on my caller ID...I was a little taken back, like somebody caught my hand in the cookie jar.  "Well, I said, I realized I dialed XXX-2430 instead of XXX-2403, so I hung up, but the question is why would he call me back? If he didn't recognize that number as somebody who would call him normally, is he worried about missing a drug deal, or worried about bill collectors? what reason would possess somebody to call an unknown number to them.

Well he certainly wasn't worried about a bill collector, perhaps he met somebody and she 'stiffed' him telling him she would call... from the sound of his voice, a little gruff, I figured he was a smoker, but otherwise pleasant. I just think its strange to call back numbers on a caller ID like that. Maybe I should have asked him out to dinner! or call him back and tell him his number came up on my caller ID...(I am to tempted to do this..) LOL!!!!!!

That caller ID pictured looks just like mine. Isn't she a beaut? You can get your own or other funky stuff here at The Funk Store.   It says this sells online for like 70 bucks wow! who knew this funky gadget that ex-hubby brought home years ago was worth some cash and a possible date night? LOL

Hidden Object...

Supposedly there is a cat in here somewhere...

I don't see it...do you? and don't lie and say you do! got a hint? You can double click the picture and it should be bigger. It didn't help me find it...LOL

Avoidable deaths of children...

Heat kills by taxing the human body beyond its abilities. In a normal year, about 175 Americans succumb to the demands of summer heat. Among the large continental family of natural hazards, only the cold of winter -- not lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, or earthquakes -- takes a greater toll. In the disastrous heat wave of 1980, more than 1,250 people died, and those are the direct causalities. No one can know how many more deaths are advanced by heat wave weather -- how many diseased or aging hearts surrender, that under better conditions would have continued functioning.

Additionally, there is a great deal of truth in the expression: ``It's not the heat, it's the humidity.'' Not only is high humidity uncomfortable, it is also unhealthy. Heat-related illness occurs when a person's body can't properly cool itself by perspiring. Under extremely hot or humid conditions, sweating can't compensate enough to stave off a rapid rise in body temperature. The body's inability to cool itself is exacerbated when the humidity is high. Most susceptible are children and the aging, those who work out in the weather, and even well-trained athletes. Ultimately, very high body temperatures may damage the brain or other vital organs.

 Heat stroke can be prevented.

What really boggles my mind is the avoidable death of heat stroke in children who were left or trapped in an automobile in extreme heat, which can result in death within minutes. This year it has been really bad here for humid hot weather. Extreme heat outside results in quickly rising temps in an enclosed vehicle, just open your car door after leaving having had it locked up for awhile. A number of studies have shown that the temperature in an enclosed car or truck can be more than 30 degrees above the outside temperature after less than 20 minutes, and more than 40 degrees within a half-hour.  Leaving a window open just a crack makes no difference in the inside temperature of a vehicle. People should keep this in mind when considering leaving a child or pet in a car for even a minute or two. Not to mention, its unlawful to even leave a child in a car unattended.

To date, 10 children in surrounding states have died from heat stroke, due to neglect by their caretakers to remove them from a vehicle.  Tragedies also arise when children play or sneak in unlocked vehicles to perhaps play hide and seek or for some other reason, as was the tragedy involving Ava.  Check out this website for tips on avoiding heat stroke or death of children, Heat Safety for Children.

Seriously, though, take responsibility for your children! What kind of person drives off to go work, puts their kid in the car to drop off at daycare, and then forgets to drop off the kid at daycare and leaves them in a car for 8 hours? Or take the latest incident of church-goers who had a foster child still in car seat that nobody seemed to take out of the car because they thought somebody else had done so in the family?  What happens legally to these people? What is just punishment for stupidity in not realizing that heat kills...or do they claim short-term memory problems...I forgot or I failed to notice my child was in the carseat, and now my child is dead...what a harsh reality that would be.

Senseless tragedies.

motivation...

Yep! I gotta get back to walking or doing something to take back off these extra few I got!

Ahhhh, its Friday...

and the house is all quiet.

You could hear a pin drop around here!

I am lovin' it.  Its just me and my HP, my I-tunes, headset, a glass of wine, and chilling...surfing...checking out FB, just loafing on the web.  It don't take much to make me happy.

This week on the management front has had its moments of crazy, but its over, TGIF!

..a welcome reprieve from work madness today was when I took a lunch break to see Isabella perform at the YMCA Day Kamp, as they were having a talent show and of course she was on the stage 4 times or something, singing, dancing, and boy! she sure had a blast! (far left is Isabella).

..."I whip my hair back and forths" and she sure did! She was quite the performer today, struttin' her skills, had her posse, and everybody was chanting, "Bella, Bella!"...LOL...I have to admit she was awesome, as usual, but then again I'm impartial you know! She took the I Phone to the Y with her today, I was hoping she wouldn't break or tear it up, but it came home intact! One of the songs she sang and danced or acted to was Call Me Maybe.. so of course their prop was a phone you know...

All the kids had a gr8 time and so did the workers there.  They are like family.  I wouldn't miss it for nothing! Of course every year they do their YMCA song dance, it was hilarious. I got it videoed somewhere, I'll try to upload it.

but for now, its nice to have a little quiet time off... and hey...I had to go look and see who was singing in my headset, it was Dinah Washington...a good one! and next up...Linda Ronstadt...what a gr8 collection I had stashed on my I-Tunes, who knew?.  Of course with this new "beats' audio on this computer it makes the music sound awesome!

How Did I Get Here?

Isn't it strange how you can be surfing, and end up watching some strange videos on You Tube?  I think I was in facebook, clicked somewhere, and was watching this video from somebody's page, based on the parody, I'm Sexy and I Know It," this was entitled "I'm Farming and I Grow It"... funny.

From here I watched a video of 2 elephants reunited, a lioness who adopted an elk baby, and somehow landed on this video...

But this video? disturbing, and the title is a little misleading as the Mom does nothing to the kid.  The video should be watch out for that cat! or watchdog kitty, or don't touch my baby! You have to see this...but not having any audio from the mother or the baby kinda sucks, however there is creepy background music.

Oh, and there is this channel on You Tube, entitled Daddy Knows Best  with some laughable videos...check it out!  Have an awesome Sunday!

beautiful liar...

I knew I should have changed that 4 digit bank pin...I meant to.

My youngest daughter has been stopping by a lot lately, needing advice, wanting to talk about things going on in her life and a move she is considering.  Today, however, she had another motive in mind it seems. She had offered to buy me some lunch, not eating herself, but it seems she wanted me to think she was actually doing something nice for me, when in fact she was sneaking my bank card back into my billfold which was on my computer desk.

She alerted my suspicions due to a comment she made about finding money in her car that she thought she had lost, when she had told me earlier she had no money.  I came to the desk, retrieved my billfold and realized that my card was not in its rightful place.  So I ask her point blank, did you take money out of my account?  If you did, please tell me.  She looked me straight in the eye and denied she had done so.  She left in a short while, as she had succeeded she thought in pulling off this thievery.  Such a beautiful mask she portrays.

When I realized that funds had been removed, (not substantial like the last time) I got into my car and drove straight to her Dad's house where I knew she was.  I had already texted her by phone, telling her I knew she had taken it, had the proof, but no answer on the phone to my pleas as to why she would do it, and then lie bold faced to me.  When I pulled up her Dad was talking to a neighbor in the yard, and I asked him to have her come out.  When she came out of her Dad's house, I showed her the bank evidence, and she said yeah she took it but offered me no explanation, no remorse, just an aloof response as if I had no right to ask her why she would do just a thing.  I told her if she did not want me to give her Dad information about some plot she was scheming without telling him, then she had better take her butt back in that house and give me back that money.  She complied.  I looked at her, tears welling up, and told her that I loved her, and that I did not understand why she would do such a thing, again.  She just said, you wouldn't understand.  I drove home and cried about it, said a prayer for her.

What I do understand is that clearly she is need of some help to sort out these behaviors, along with other things she struggles with.  Its plain to me, and has been for some time, that she has a personality disorder of some type, for which she cannot recognize, her Dad refuses to see, and she has never sought help.  God knows how much I have worried about her, tried to help her, but I don't know what is going to become of her at 20.  She is getting ready to move thousands of miles away to move in with her boyfriend.  Perhaps if or when she feels secure these behaviors will stop, I don't know.  If she doesn't get help, I am afraid its just a matter of time before she gets into some serious trouble.

Lunatic.

See the horns on his head?  I swear is there no place where one could be safe?  When you are sitting in a movie theater, the last thing you think about is the place not being safe.  After all, its just a movie theater, right?  Who would believe that a guy dressed in full combat gear, who was enrolled was in a PhD program in neuroscience just a month earlier, would invade the theater, throw smoke bombs and start firing off rounds randomly killing 14 people and injuring 59.  What a horrible tragedy in Aurora, Colorado.  My heart goes out to the victims, and their families coping with this tragedy.  Even though this guy is in custody he is not cooperating and has lawyered up.  I say take him out and shoot his ass, don't give him 3 hots and a cot and make taxpayers pay for his keep after what he did.  Did nobody see this guy was disturbed?  His family? While his family supposedly are shocked at this tragedy, surely they have some inkling their little boy wasn't right.  Nobody would even plan or contemplate such an act if they were sane.   Being insane and extremely intelligent with access to guns and ammo is a deadly combination unfortunately.  Would one call him an insance genuis to pull off such a stunt as to booby-trap his apartment so police could not enter?  It appears he called himself the Joker and died his hair orange, too.  Is he going to wake up from his 'psychosis' and realize what he did? or is he amusing his crazy ass as he sits watching the aftermath living out some evil villian fantasy.  Insanity at its best right here, folks.

Open Mouth, Insert Scream!

Gee, I never expected to see Isabella act out so angrily over 2 burgers.  After my workday, I picked her up at the Y like I normally do and told her I would drive by and get us something to eat.

She wanted to go to "Wendy's" so I proceeded to the drive-thru and she said she wanted "two Jr. burgers with no pickles, no onions," so when we get home, she just explodes because there is mayo, tomato, and god forbid lettuce on her 2 burgers!!!

She went into a tailspin, ranting and raving like a maniac! screaming that they messed up her order or it was my fault, but I calmly tried to tell her she did not specify exactly what she wanted on them other than no pickles or onions, so they put the standard stuff on them.  I told her if she had wanted something specific on them, she should have said so while we were there. I proceeded to leave the room at that point.

Well next comes a flying burger! aimed perfectly and gets my clothes all messed up and then hits the floor....

OMYGAWD!  Lets just say she lost a few privileges, and she had to clean up the frickin' mess!

Have you ever...

...lost a day and couldn't figure out where it went to? LOL...I swear I must have dementia! I have been dragging my butt around for a couple of weeks lately, but that ain't nothing new...

Anyhoo, I logged into work, opened my usual programs, and somebody had put something up about the week being half over on their Instant Messenger status update, and I thought how stupid, its only Tuesday, what the crap? ....

After checking the calendar, I realized it was Wednesday! Duh!

As far as the adventure goes, we (my immediate boss and I) are newly in charge of some acute care accounts, and I have no idea what these people's schedules are, what accounts they can work on, whats on poolscripts, what is not, and ask me if care! its just mind-boggling!...Finally I got a listing of all the information I needed, so watch out!  Some of these people need to expand their horizons and learn some of these other acute care accounts instead of staying on those they have been on forever! surprise, surprise! You have now been poolscripted with Texas, and Texas is a big account, but isn't everything in Texas bigger yall?! This account is complicated, 3 different branches, so its a whopper!

Yes, in my FQA hood, all my people do Texas!

And how was your Wednesday?

My new puter!

Hi ya'll.

I picked up my new HP Pavillion PC today at Office Max, and I am enjoying the beats audio experience too when listening to music, its just awesome, one of the best options on this PC.  I opted for a desktop instead of a laptop, because with BellaRose in the house it just makes better sense.  She would inevitably drop the laptop resulting in serious damage control, maybe I'll splurge for a laptop when she's a little older.  She dropped my I-Phone Friday and broke the back on it, however I got it fixed on Saturday by a guy for 30 bucks, and its looking brand new once again!

all is well.

and how are things in your neck of the woods?

and now for Sunday giggle... this is the You've Got Jail Mail Edition...

A prisoner in jail receives a letter from his wife: "Dear Husband, I have decided to plant some lettuce in the back garden. When is the best time to plant them?"

The prisoner, knowing that the prison guards read all mail, replied in a letter: "Dear Wife, whatever you do, do not touch the back garden. That is where I hid all the money."

A week or so later, he received another letter from his wife: "Dear Husband, You wouldn't believe what happened, some men came with shovels to the house, and dug up all the back garden."

The prisoner wrote another letter back: "Dear wife, now is the best time to plant the lettuce."
Smiley Face

Hmmmm...what a day or two!

Well, folks, I do believe its time for a new PC.  My HP Pavilion started sounding like it was having little power surges, so I turned it off, and I guess its off forever, sad truly.  I cleaned it and it will still not boot up.  Things that make you go hmmmm...and curse!  I had already lost everything twice on my computer twice due to some damn virus, and even if I wanted anything on it, I couldn't get it off now.

I have decided on this next HP Pavilion desktop computer I want the beats audio, and listening to music will be frickin' awesome...so its off to Office Max tomorrow to get this 8GB HP Pavilion which goes on sale for 449 bucks, sweet! 90 bucks off, can't beat that, and I can't wait!

In something totally unrelated, the other day I was driving to pick Bella up from the Y and I saw this bumper sticker that read, "morally flexible." I got a good laugh out of it, and then I thought hmmm....and a while ago running errands to include a repair of my I-phone because Bella broke its back, I saw this girl holding up a cardboard sign that says, "homeless, ..." and I couldn't help but think about that parody they made out of the song, I'm sexy and I know it.  "I'm sexy and I'm homeless"... oh my, and she is probably morally flexible too!

Anyway, have a great Saturday.  Tomorrow is boot 'em up day!

double chocolate muffin...

Hi ya'll.  At my local Speedway they have these double chocolate muffins by Pleasant Hill Ovens that are scrumptious, and oversized, but you cannot tell from this picture.  It  truly is a really big sized muffin! but its not like I had enough forethought to take a picture before I ate it the whole thang...

When reading the label, it seems that a serving size is only one-third of this muffin. One-third? ... I don't know how many people would buy this and actually half it up into thirds to save it for 3 mornings in a row? I'm guessing nobody...

What I want to know is, who out there in Blogdom would divide up such a delectable indulgence because they were concerned with serving size versus caloric intake.  Some might not buy it, but that's a personal choice.  I can tell you right now, that didn't happen as far as I'm concerned...LOL...

Serving size:  1/3 muffin.  Calories per serving size:  220.

So if you eat the whole thing, that's pretty much 700 calories busted, but damn worth it!  Yes,  I do so love to indulge myself in chocolate on occasion! ha!
