Budgeting CellPhone Data

In these days and times, budgeting, even though we might hate to do it, has to be done to keep your head above water unless you have a rich uncle that just got out of the poorhouse or you're rollin' in dough.  I have everything budgeted as far as bills and such and would choke a dollar bill to death!

However, this year I decided I would get myself a new I-phone and either trade-in or give my Apple 5-S to my granddaughter who as a teen wants to be like everybody else (a whole other post).  My choice?  the Samsung 6 Edge with 32 GB and I got it for a decent price.  I bought it straight out and put myself on a monthly budget plan for 40 bucks, that's it. Daughter-in-law says she rather fight than switch, was never an Apple user ....  but the vote is still out on that one for me.  I do miss being able to voice Siri to call "Sister" while in motion or not.  Maybe Samsung has a comparable app for that.  I'll have to hit up the ever popular Android guy!

I was pretty lost when I first got this phone on all its features, which are a lot, and I wanted to ensure that I was keeping within my boundaries as far as data.  The teen always runs over her data in 3 to 5 days (luckily she is not on my phone plan) but is set at a limit on somebody else's plan.  She is allotted a certain data amount and when she runs out, she is restricted to wifi use only.

Apps can certainly burn up your data and quickly, but I find that Pokemon Go doesn't burn as much as some other apps and one would have thought it would.  Yes I play a little, not too much, and usually with the kiddo teen.  About 7 years ago my teen (who is now 24) broke my bank account every payday with overcharges, I'm talking a hundred or more, it was nuts, back then you couldn't even cut them off at a certain point, ugh!  Anyhoo in case yuns didn't know you too can restrict data by turning off apps that run in the background and whether you open them or not, some of these apps (chat, messaging, email) are still burning your data, A lot of people think that if the app is not open they are not using data -- this is not true necessarily, folks!  If you're using wifi mostly and are wondering where all your 'data' goes well consider looking here.

On my phone I go to >>Settings>>Data Usage>>scroll down to By Application where it lists all the Apps I have downloaded and most of which run in the background unnoticed.  You would then go down your list tap each one and turn on "Restrict background data"  ... and believe me this has cut down on the data, in fact I hardly used any data the last two cycles.   Well, I hope this helps if anybody is interested in knowing how to save a little cash on an otherwise not unlimited plan!

My day in QA ...

what in tarnation?!

... so far this morning, has been interesting; what has it been 2 hours and I just got two reports done that were STATs at CS level.  I didn't even log in on time, I slept another 30 in, my bad.  These 2 reports had already gone through one of our QA people and they were both absolutely incredible as far as the amount of blanks and gross errors left in them.

Boss called about the time I was trying to finish up the 2nd one; said that particular QA is being looked at, may be demoted, or take a cut in pay or some of other consequences befall for such gross and negligent errors (she was talking about 2 other accounts this QA worked on).  One would have to see to believe the errors, I kid you not ... off the wall stuff like..."Additional desires for Viagra?  this is a female with all the info dictated but no demographics were placed where they should have been; QA left a note that MT did not finish typing but the last hand that touched it was QA and it is their responsibility to ensure a quality product, this was nowhere close.

Heads are gonna roll on this one.

So I am on the other late file on the system, and I have to chuckle at the "gut & butt remark"...

A 58 year old lady applying for disability (in a far away state) who states she has had diarrhea for 12 years? ...Come on now... states she cannot do anything when her gut and butt are acting up.  That was all the information that she provided. (and that's more information that you or I needed to know too!)    

and that makes me a little queasy...!  reminds me of Morning Fluoro as a radiologic technologist doing barium enemas!  Oh the tales I could tell...

UPDATE:  This particular QA was banned from working on this one account (not the one I found gross errors on...but another very picky client that she was messing up on); we receive all work through poolscripts set up for each individual QA person, so its easy to do just pull the client name out of her poolscripts and she will not pull any work related to that one account! This client did have an in-service yesterday that she did attend, so maybe they'll put her back on the account.  :( 

argghh...what is with Chrome browser

and Windows 10?  I upgraded from 8.1.

Can't they play together without fighting?  

I'm having issues nearly every night with stammers, totally freezes, videos not playing, chrome browser error that its not responding taking everything to a halt ... and its not that then my wifi is acting out?  I'm not sure what the Universe is trying to tell me ... in any event, I'm not listening cause if something is acting up I will get it resolved, just like I did with this One Drive crap stuff.  It kept popping up EVERY time I started up my laptop...drove me nuts (it wouldn't take much).  That's the most useless program ever in my opinion and you can't delete it.  I was trying to do some research on this Chrome/Windows 10 issue and while I uninstalled and reinstalled, because I was not the only one having issues, however, I am still having problems.  Its annoying to have browser issues when all you want to do is relax at the end of a long day, answer emails, and listen to tunes.

Any ideas out there in blogdom?

goodbye July ... hurry up and pass August

August is such a hard month for me, so much pain and heartache. I have exceeded my limit now, but I operate in survival mode and this month, I know, too shall pass. I took Friday off because I just couldn't do it one more day. Tomorrow is already here and I'm not sure I can do it tomorrow. In fact, I'm not sure about anything right now to be honest. Its amazing how strong one can appear to those outsiders and deal with demands of the day, but underneath there is a profound sadness~

Months come and go ~ and still ... the pain is always just a scratch below the surface. Some days I feel myself drowning in my own emotional and physical exhaustion ... Could I absolve myself of all responsibilities and disappear into nothingness, to no man's land, remove myself out of my past, present and future -- from anything and everything that is ... its never that easy. Is death the only escape?

so I just breathe and grieve --- what else is there to do... try to remember or long to forget.

Busted ...

"Don't Look At Me In That Tone of Voice...."

I'm sure the teen gave me this glare ... and she didn't hesitate to voice her objections at 3 o'clock in the morning to my finding her downstairs with the door open, lights on everywhere and her getting ready to entertain with a girl standing on my porch ... at 3 AM? "We weren't going to sneak out she says...." really? Just exactly what were you planning at 3 o'clock in the morning?! The surprise of being caught on their faces was priceless! Get your butt upstairs ... "Can I spent the night with Kiera?" seriously? at 3 AM you are asking me to spend the night with Kiera? Mind you this kid walked nearly 14 blocks from where she lives? After I had gone back to bed I worried about the safety issue of this kid getting back home that time of night, even though I had the feeling she was not alone. The cops patrol quite often in this neighborhood and I wouldn't be surprised if she got a courtesy ride and if she did, her mother would be informed of such. I would have called her mother myself if I had her phone number. Yes ... it's going to be a battle royale today coz she isn't going to take well to being grounded ... also earlier yesterday she told me she was at the mall when in fact she was at the mall (at some point) but she neglected to tell me she was somewhere else ... (the mall does not have hardwood floors, fireplace and pics above it) taking pictures at someone's house and then posting them to Facebook pretty much tells on yourself ... and was hanging with a friend that she knows I don't approve of ... complete with pictures on Facebook and with the girl with your shirt on just confirms you lying about it.

Oh the drama! and the update

Well, I can't help myself from watching "The Bachelorette" ... I know, I know ... and tonight's episode was sad for a sweet guy, Chase.  At least he came back to give JoJo his blessing to to follow her heart regardless of him feeling totally deflated.  A true gentleman this guy...but it appears that tomorrow night its the "bachelors tell all" and what a crazy bunch of bachelors this season in the house, especially Chad.  Is anybody else watching or following this?

once you get sucked into watching one Bachelor or Bachelorette series, the next one comes along and you get sucked in again! Who will she choose?  I am not sure what she sees in Robbie and I'm not sure Jordan was for her either ... but it ain't up to me! My money was on Chase.  :( poor guy.   Well it appears that some of these bachelors will be gracing the show "Bachelors in Paradise" coming August 3rd I believe.  You know you're gonna tune in.. I will...hahaha!

Why do I watch such stuff? cause I'm a sucker for love I suppose.

UPDATE:  and the final rose this Monday night 8/1 goes to ...

Jordan Rodgers!  Everybody else thought Robby was the best choice but one has to follow their heart...and that's how that love story played out.
