Report Card time - the 3rd 9 weeks, 1 more to go!
Yeah, I was one of those worriers over grades. If I didn't make straight A's I pretty much beat myself up. I was not an overachiever but I did well in school. However going behind a 'genius' as her teachers called her, left me having to work harder to show up my older sister. I loved 4th grade and Ms. McCoy was memorable. She always had the funkiest earrings and loud bold print dresses, her face makeup always perfect. Isabella's teacher pales in comparison to the teacher I had it seems in 4th grade, and not as organized when it comes to classroom agenda and/or parent conferences. School just isn't what it used to be. Isabella is in 4th grade this year, a pivotal year to really have to work hard to get those grades and study habits in line for junior high coming up. How did she do? Well, I am proud to say that she got an A in Math, B in Science, Reading B, Language B, Art/Music and PE an A, and her worst Social Studies a C. She did pretty good overall. I am proud of that Math grade, and glad her reading grade was not less than a B considering its a fight to get her to read unfortunately as her midterm left a little to be desired. I guess bribery and bitchin' does work to a certain extent...LOL
Speaking of grade school, I went to Olive Hill Elementary school which had over 100 steps up to it, of course if you rode the bus then that was a plus! and when you got a certain age you could go off the hill for lunch at the local Dairy Queen or bowling alley. Yep, schools aren't what they used to be and neither is the curriculum they preach and try to teach. Below is a picture of the elementary school I went to.
Yep, her QA pants caught fire...
So, bloggers, bring on the weekend!
Got plans?
I don't necessarily. I think Isabella is staying with her mom and dad this weekend, so I get some alone time.
Holey whiz!
I might have to drink and blog or something...
I do so love having my own quiet time.
Nobody in the house but me, Bub, and Sis.
Yeah, that's my two cats, better know as "hiss and piss!"
and on that note, say goodnight, Gracie.
MT stupidity and liar, liar, QA pants on fire!
Outside of this blunder "Loratadine 10 mg 1 toe a day as needed for allergies." (tab). Here is another one pointed out to me by my FQA (final quality assurance). "There are erythematous reasons on the lateral knee." (lesions) Reality is that they best get their shit together. Can you imagine typing this and just leaving it in a report?
There is no excuse for these US MTs to be making such stupid and avoidable errors. However, its not just the MTs, its the Quality Assurance staff too letting stuff slip through, not following dossier instructions or checklists. Every MT has to pass an audit, and so does FQA staff, and they need to maintain a 98% standard. Some do, some do not, if given another chance to bring up their audit within 2 weeks, they either maintain the 98% or lose their job. We are not messing around with sloppy, you either do the job, or you cannot do the job. I think most people assume transcription is just easy, but there is way more involved than you might think. There are client specifics, templates to follow, manipulating equipment, its not for the ADD type or those thinking its easy money.
I have a QA person (IC independent contractor) right now who is just uploading documents for the sake of line count or bottom-line, money per line. Granted she is not making a fortune at it, but there is no excuse for lack of personal integrity, in person or at your job; I mean where is your moral compass?
Can I prove she is not proofing them? that was a question posed by my boss, and I told her to do the math.
If you have 59 documents and you upload them in 45 minutes, do you think that is feasibly possible? or if you have 16 documents, a few of which are long DDS reports, and you upload all those in 6 minutes, would one assume you've read them? I think not. Most of these were done in a platform which requires you to preview the document before upload, not to mention just the time it takes to open the document and proof it all the way through depending on the length of the voice file. If, in one of those six documents per se, it is a 14 minute report, tell me how is it possible that she can not only upload that report, but also 15 more in six minutes?
She must be a super hero, and quite frankly she is getting ready to crash and burn. I am going to put an end to her little party. Due to my suspicions for files being uploaded 3 days in such a manner, another audit was conducted, and she failed so my suspicions were indeed correct in that she was not doing her job. Even worse, when asked by me before even getting an audit as to how quickly she was doing this work, she was asked point blank if she was pulling rosters to confirm patient info, previewing these documents, looking at all the tabs to make sure that all data is correct, proof the content, and her answer was a resounding 'Yes.' I thought to myself LIAR, LIAR, there is no way in hell, and I am going to prove it, which I did. She mainly worked evening shift, so in conferring with the evening shift manager I was informed that she goes through files really quick and obviously she has been doing this a while without anybody taking close notice. Shame on us for not getting her sooner. She has been lucky and gotten files which were good MT files to begin with more than likely.
What nailed her coffin was when I had to go behind her and correct three lengthy DDS reports because she neglected to do her job, and lied to me point blank. If those documents had reached the client, who is a very influential one (people have gotten fired over this client due to quality issues), the company would be called on the lack of quality, which could result in a potential client loss and employee or IC firing.
Yes I will take great satisfaction in this IC being fired, and I don't feel she should be paid for any of those documents she proofed last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday but that's not my call. I hope to God she doesn't draw unemployment because that would be more money for doing nothing. Outside of her lack of job duties being performed satisfactorily, she has done a few unsavory things such as make slurs against our IT department, missing work at her scheduled times, storytelling and trying to go above immediate supervisor's heads to my boss and the HR boss stating she has no work. She has pissed me off for the last time, and has annoyed others, but what it boils down to is the fact that for the job she was hired she has knowingly failed to do it and she knows it. She has uploaded documents without even a glance at them, and then sent emails asking why there is no more work for her? I would love to hear her explanation for her lack of doing her job when the documents are presented to her.
Seriously, her work ethic is not worth dog shit and its too bad I won't get to face off and tell her just exactly this...
March
I cannot believe that winter was as mild here in Appalachia as it was. We barely saw any snow, maybe twice, the kids had no snow days taken off from school except 1 day. Somebody told me if the winter was mild then we would have way too many insects this spring/summer. I don't know about that. I do know the honeybees I haven't seen in forever here. Weather-wise, one day its 60s to 70ish, the next day its high is only 40 or 50. I am glad the time changes this weekend! yay! more daylight. I always love the renewal of spirit spring brings, and every year my lawn gets the most beautiful blanket of violets.
Yep, when violets spring up, and dogwoods bloom, reminds me of the power of Mother Nature, and all its beauty! Right now my quince bush is blooming with glorious hues of coral, its awesome. Glory Be! to the power of Spring! bring it on...
Guess What Day It Is...
its my birthday! LOL...
so, in the spirit of giving,
go ahead tell me
what you got me for my birthday...
go on...
I'm waiting...
another day in FQA paradise...
a couple of WTH (what the heck) moments!
another day in FQA review... found on a report..."The patient states that he has been present for 14 months." actually dictated as "The patient states that he has been in prison for 14 months." this laugh courtesy of offshore MTs. ...and now, folks... a laugh furnished by our homeland US MTs. ...Indicated that she may have an irritation from the tape that she is utilizing and Miners Jeanett give her the name of the pharmacy to obtain the paper tape that we utilize where she had no issues with this. dictated as doc says....Indicated that she may have an irritation from the tape that she is utilizing, my nurse, Jeanette gave her the name of the pharmacy to obtain the paper tape that we utilize ... I ask you bloggers...which is worse? makes me cringe that our US MTs would type such bullshit.
Parental Control
While channel surfing looking for something interesting to watch this Saturdya afternoon, I came across this show called "Parental Control." The program where the parents pick their son or daughter's date, hoping they'll ditch their now boyfriend/girlfriend and go onto somebody new! well, this girl says while watching her boyfriend out on a date with somebody new says, "She's like margarine, all she does is spread..." hahaha...funny but what she was doing was some 'exercise routine'. More often then not, they choose the same partner their parents couldn't stand to begin with. My kids always seem to make the right choices, no major issues there with hellion significant others...
