a day of weeping yesterday and today ~

Yesterday I remember those outstretched arms of a 6 year old child who wanted nothing to do but hug her mommy back from her first day of school running towards me when she was snatched up by a heartless father who hated me more than life itself, and scowled at her, carting her off crying.  Moments like that cuts the very soul and while I type this I still cry.  sometimes it doesn't matter the years ...  they were all standing there like it was a big celebration, a victory, a victory of what? taking a child away from its mother who never did anything wrong except love her?  She was never abused, I wasn't an addict, an alcoholic, unfit ...  I felt like I had just died, and emotionally I knew my baby girl would too.  I never did a damn thing but love my baby ... she was bought and paid for.  Lies made up to cover the truth and a lawyer who also has a reputation for taking womens children away from them.  The damage irreparable despite my having her every weekend and any other time I could.  I hated myself that I couldn't stop him.  As an adult, my baby girl has a list of psychiatric diagnoses a mile long and is currently taking meds.  Hell belongs to him, and I'm sure they are reserving him a suite.

Today I get a phone call from my oldest daughter weeping uncontrollably about her son.  The adoptive papers were filed and her and her husbands' parental rights revoked.  She wailed to me, crying, such hopelessness, and I too on the other weeping end knowing first hand that pain of losing a baby child you love oh so very much.  However he will be around for his sister to see living in the next county and will still have visitation with his grandparents and his sister.  He will just be raised by a wonderful foster family.  Daughter cries over the moments she doesn't have with her children, and I too know that all too well ... heartbreaking.  This news befalls on her birthday today.  Her life is totally different, drug-free, but she is 3,000 miles away.  I told her that one day he will come home, and so will her daughter, Isabella that I am trying to raise.

the bright spot in all of this ... oldest daughter is pregnant ... a total surprise.  Maybe there is a silver lining here somewhere in all the turmoil we have gone through as a family.

August is hell.  I just want to go to bed.

First Day As a Freshman

and what a grouchy bear to get up!  I was thinking she might not make it, and did voice she didn't want to go, but admitted she was scared.  I told her she had nothing to worry about, and everything would be fine.  Said she liked her teachers and her schedule, especially Science.  She had a good day, I was happy for her.  I had hoped she would.  :)

~ how time flies by indeed~

Spending time with my littlest Love!

sweet baby Tay I call her ...  who will be turning 2 years old in September. She is just the sweetest most pleasant child.  I like to take her to the park to interact and play and run free! She isn't in daycare so she misses out being around other kids. She would say 'hi' to everybody, but especially loved watching a gang of little boys flitting about. She seemed to be totally fascinated and would squeal and follow them around! She has a brother but he's too little to run around yet at only 6 months old! :)  I love hanging out with my little granddaughter, she is now losing her baby fat, and talking up a storm ... anything you say she can say better! :) and getting those hugs and kisses just made my day!

Ah! Those Were The Days~

I've not always been a paleface, actually one summer in particular when I was a young sassy lassie, I had the prettiest golden tan for miles around, thanks to this little beauty.  The electric lawnmower!

 1

I can't remember the color of it per se, but what I do remember was that big long orange cord that you had to make sure you didn't run over! Mom didn't trust too many people to handle the yard mowing with the Sunbeam.  I'm not sure whatever happened to that electric lawnmower! what a novel idea for the times, huh? that was probably the same year we got the silver pom pom Christmas tree with the spinning wheel of color, remember either of these?

This lawnmower even had a flip handle, push it one way and then just flip the handle and back and forths, but it was always having to move the electric cord too! I sweated out the task of our big yard many times with that Sunbeam and kept all my fingers and toes intact! :)

With my small yard here, maybe I should invest back in one of these lawnmowers but considering the price of electricity nowdays maybe not such a wise investment!  ... nah!

however, I'd love to have a silver pompom tree once again,  Everytime I found one on E-Bay I always got outbid, I think its rigged!  I found the tree rather space aged for the times! as far as lights it was a bummer (this was back when they were big and clunky and hot too) but who needs lights, right? when you have a color wheel!  I spent many hours in awe of it.  Also, like the lawnmower I'm not sure what happened to the tree either!

Today's Forecast

sounds like the weather we're having.

SOS (same ole shiz) ... Hot and humid again, with a side of occasional rain!

which only makes things worse.  Its like living inside a dang sauna!

This weather has been way too humid and sticky for my liking, and unless I have to run errands or be at a water source, I'd rather not venture outside the palace gates here!

My cooling system has run nonstop and this window air conditioner unit upstairs doesn't even keep my bedroom cool enough through the day and I find I need to wait until about 10 to even try to lounge there, but the downstairs is butt-ass cold!

I grew up without air conditioning and bunked on the 2nd floor, and then as an adult with two kids moved into a 3rd floor apartment without any air conditioning at all, and believe me ... when the heat index is up like this and people have no air, they get nasty uncomfortable and mean, especially if you are living in an apartment complex like I did for low income housing and HUD subsidized rent.  I was going to radiologic technology school and in the summer months, on any given night you could hear the outbursts and the arguments, people outside all hours of the night, no doubt due to the irritability of having to live in such god-awful temperatures.  At the time I moved in, I didn't realize it did not have central air, and if you put in a window air conditioner you had to pay extra for it and of course that meant you'd have to purchase the air conditioner too, which wasn't in my budget at the time.  I lived my first summer without air conditioner and it was murderous!

At those times in my youth and early adulthood air conditioning was a luxury.  To me its an absolute necessity!

Some like it hot? Nah, I like it cold and frigid!

so what is playin' at The Lounge? ... rainy day jazz ... outside its hot, inside its raining ...

Budgeting CellPhone Data

In these days and times, budgeting, even though we might hate to do it, has to be done to keep your head above water unless you have a rich uncle that just got out of the poorhouse or you're rollin' in dough.  I have everything budgeted as far as bills and such and would choke a dollar bill to death!

However, this year I decided I would get myself a new I-phone and either trade-in or give my Apple 5-S to my granddaughter who as a teen wants to be like everybody else (a whole other post).  My choice?  the Samsung 6 Edge with 32 GB and I got it for a decent price.  I bought it straight out and put myself on a monthly budget plan for 40 bucks, that's it. Daughter-in-law says she rather fight than switch, was never an Apple user ....  but the vote is still out on that one for me.  I do miss being able to voice Siri to call "Sister" while in motion or not.  Maybe Samsung has a comparable app for that.  I'll have to hit up the ever popular Android guy!

So...Bloggers are you an Android or Apple user?

Apple or Samsung?
I was pretty lost when I first got this phone on all its features, which are a lot, and I wanted to ensure that I was keeping within my boundaries as far as data.  The teen always runs over her data in 3 to 5 days (luckily she is not on my phone plan) but is set at a limit on somebody else's plan.  She is allotted a certain data amount and when she runs out, she is restricted to wifi use only.

Apps can certainly burn up your data and quickly, but I find that Pokemon Go doesn't burn as much as some other apps and one would have thought it would.  Yes I play a little, not too much, and usually with the kiddo teen.  About 7 years ago my teen (who is now 24) broke my bank account every payday with overcharges, I'm talking a hundred or more, it was nuts, back then you couldn't even cut them off at a certain point, ugh!  Anyhoo in case yuns didn't know you too can restrict data by turning off apps that run in the background and whether you open them or not, some of these apps (chat, messaging, email) are still burning your data, A lot of people think that if the app is not open they are not using data -- this is not true necessarily, folks!  If you're using wifi mostly and are wondering where all your 'data' goes well consider looking here.

On my phone I go to >>Settings>>Data Usage>>scroll down to By Application where it lists all the Apps I have downloaded and most of which run in the background unnoticed.  You would then go down your list tap each one and turn on "Restrict background data"  ... and believe me this has cut down on the data, in fact I hardly used any data the last two cycles.   Well, I hope this helps if anybody is interested in knowing how to save a little cash on an otherwise not unlimited plan!
