With all the violence and upheaval of our law enforcement in the news lately, it makes me wonder what is coming next. Its hard to believe we live in such scary times and even though I am not a bible thumper, most of what we see is written. I was just having this conversation yesterday at the "lube/oil" establishment with a lady who dropped off a care package for soldiers. The lady was met at the door by the guy who was sitting with me waiting and he helped her lift it up to the counter as she was struggling to handle the load. This was the 2nd random act of the day, selfless giving of time and of goods for those who protect our country; the first random act of the day happened to me! I had already been to the "lube/oil" place once; this was my second time there as it appears that this is a place who will check lights and signals too, and the guy told me my left/right signals were not working so he offered to replace the bulbs to which I said yes. He said he could only get to one of them as it was hard to reach and gave me the bulb as cars were piling up and since this appeared to be taking too much time since he struggled to replace the right one, he gave up trying to fix it. I told him that was fine and paid and left. I was going to have my mechanic flush the transmission fluid anyway and he could replace the right turn signal.
I leave and go get the other 2 filters at AutoZone and the guy there puts them in; the lube place offered to do it for free as well, and while there we discovered that I have no brake lights either. On trying my signal which the guy said he fixed, I had no signal either. So there I am no brake lights no turn lights. The guy at AutoZone told me to go back to the lube place and have them take another look perhaps they pulled out something wrong or blew a fuse while trying to put that right turn signal bulb in without success. I thought perhaps since the sun was shining directly and brightly on my taillights at Auto Zone that perhaps he was mistaken, but while on the phone with the lube/oil place again the guy said to me on the phone, "You had brake lights when you were here." I knew I was going to have to make a trip up there again.
Regardless I have to stop at a local gas station to fuel, so I saw this middle-aged guy at another pump and since I parked in the shade, I asked if he would mind to check and see if I have brake lights and he said I have no tail lights or turn signals. He says his wife has had issues like such before, not that they were a bad place necessarily just inexperienced perhaps, or got in a hurry and failed to follow through with what they should have. In any event, he was very sweet and offered to "be my son" and follow me back to the lube/oil place to talk to the guys there and get this resolved. "My mom cannot be driving without brake lights or turn signals..." and if she had them before she left, and now she does not, could you please take a look and fix the issues ... to which they complied and I had turn signals and brake lights when I left at no charge. It was very sweet of him to do, and they even offered to replace the taillight that had the red cover over it as I broke it Memorial Day backing up thinking I had cleared a pole. In any event, I have a "new son" however I only know his name and nothing else, but I was very proud to be his Mommy for that moment he gave of himself to help me, a total stranger. As we got ready to leave, he said "Gimme a hug Mom, to which I replied, thank you son, kiss my babies for me" and we both left! awesome!
Oh Gawd! What Did I Just Do?
Nooooooo! I was leaving to take the kiddo to her tumbling class, and realizing I parked in the alley I locked my front screen door and then inadvertently went out my back door, but it appears that I hit the twist lock on the back door not thinking and as soon as I shut it ... I realized I don't have a key for that lock, so I whip out a few credit cards and other cards trying to slide and open the door. The door must be 30 years old and it by no means is that secure ... a little rickety, after all, its just a twist lock, it couldn't be that hard to get open could it?... well think again... I couldn't get it open despite my efforts and I really didn't want to have to call in a locksmith! So I decided to take her on to her class and deal with it when I got back home.
it figures my full glass screen door at the front door has a deadbolt which did come with two keys; however, where are the keys when you need them? certainly not on my keychain! ...
so I finally arrive back at the hacienda, and its hotter than a mother hummer due to the humidity here, and after a few more 'jimmy' attempts to avoid paying a locksmith fee, it became impossible to pick this lock so I had to call a locksmith. Don't you hate it when that happens? locking yourself out...ugh!
Well, he doesn't call or arrive until about 9:30 ... it appears this guy was rather elderly, forgot his glasses, forgot his tools that he was going to bring the first time, and failed at both locks the first time, so he went back home to retrieve more tools! I was beginning to wonder if he could get the job done at all, but finally he did and at a cheaper price than I had to pay before. He only charged me $45 bucks; it could have been worse! Oh, what a night! but finally we got back in the house at 11 PM! all I can say is..
There's no place like home :).
a slow dance ...

“Love is kisses and touches and all the little things that make your body flood with emotions such as need, want, protectiveness, jealousy, hurt, and anger. It can take your breath away, or smother you at times, and make you feel like you can’t go on. Your heart may race a thousand miles per minute, then slow down, and then race again, just with a simple look. Love is deadly and can kill you from the inside out if you let it. It makes you do stupid, ridiculous things, and say senseless sappy words, or listen to silly love songs, jazz, or dance in the streets, or laugh, or smile. Love is a weapon, or a drug, and can drive a person mad. I know what love is…” and when its raining outside, I'd love to have that significant other to keep the love alive inside ...
The Teen ... Take 2
Sometimes on Pinterest I come across stuff that really makes me laugh outloud...like this one...cause you know its true...

I was just having a family meeting (aka teen scream) with the teen about this very thing ... turning off the wifi at a certain time especially when I go to bed during the workweek! after all this late night snapchat craze needs to end before a knock on the door comes AGAIN! ... its reminds of a flashback incident nearly 2 years ago when her and a friend at the time got into a verbal showdown on the Facebook chat, and the barbs were flying, both parties were going at it, but this girls mother called the cops to my door. WTF? Yep ... these hormonal crazed preteen and teens are not responsible for their actions past midnight...their mouths work even though their brains do not obviously ... yep! time to turn off the wifi ... She's already lost her data, I think she used like 4 GBs of data within 2 weeks ...
haha :)
made with love ...

for Mother's Day, Little Queenie (whose 13, soon to be 14) decided she would cook me dinner. I was sweet talked to go relax and watch TV while she busied herself with the task of making goulash she called it. I was scared frankly cause anything could be put in goulash, right.
I still remember those dense cupcakes that she decided to forego any recipe and make herself but instead of using baking powder, she used baking soda! yuck! even the birds wouldn't eat those!
She also decided somewhere along the joy of cooking goulash to surprise me with a dessert and would not let me back into the kitchen ... it was a surprise she said! I was banned from my own kitchen when I went to check on her.
and that's not all...
she also gave the best present of all
and that's not all...
she also gave the best present of all
~ cleaning up the mess!
(geeze ... just like a teen!) make a mess and then expect others to clean up after ya! btw the goulash was pretty good ... all my efforts at teaching her how to cook are not in vain after all! :)

rain, rain, go away ...

so the kids can go out and play! ... I went to visit my daughter and son-in-law, and see my new grandson, Connor, who will be exactly 2 months old tomorrow. She also has a 19-month-old daughter, Taylor, and visiting was her husband's six-year-old, Caiden. The kids were a little stir crazy not being able to go outside and ran the length of the house, squealing and playing, while daughter is sitting trying to watch a movie ... Dad is rolling with the punches ... he has the patience of a Saint ... daughter has learned to drown out the noise...
ahhh ... the days of parenting the small.
while I enjoy visiting and playing with the kids, there is that joy in being able to leave them and come home to my otherwise quiet and peaceful domain! No noise, no interruptions, just an otherwise lazy rainy Saturday afternoon to bask in my own interests. :) ... I think I'll make some brownies and have that second glass of wine!
I hope you are enjoying your Saturday.
Rain...Rain...and more Rain...

all day long ... makes for a lazy Saturday. I suppose I could have worked for OT since it was offered but I'd much rather laze on my day off. Besides taxes eat up any money that I'd would make. I'd have to work at least 8 hours to even feel like it was worth it. I just don't want to give up my time. I'd much rather blog and listen to music while the rain hits the air conditioner outside my bedroom window. The rain used to soothe me and still does, but it does bring up bittersweet memories of past loves. After all the rain is only good for one thing ... making love. oh yeah, and April showers bring May flowers, right? haha...and isn't this the last day of the month? wow, it has flown by.
a little bluesy jazz sets the mood ... "ain't no sunshine when 'love's' gone...."
there is a time for love and a time for letting go~
In some aspects of my life, the sad is ending and new beginnings are always hopeful. A recent liaison I was hopeful might blossom into something wonderful came to screeching halt, so while I am mourning that, I embrace the fact that life goes on. I was never good at goodbyes or endings, and with endings came the demise of a site on Wordpress. So long sweet friend, a lot of heart scattered into cyberspace with nary a trace of me; its time I soul cleansed, and begin again. Doesn't mean I won't miss you, and maybe you'll miss me just a little.
My granddaughter who will soon be 14, will be coming to live with me. She has been in a treatment facility for a few months, and I am welcoming her home with open arms. The relationship with her mother, though tumultuous, is not a constant drain, as she is out of state. I'm not sure how this will play out with granddaughter, but I keep telling myself that is her mother, my daughter, so I will need to find both courage and kindness to find the balance. My daughter still fantasizes the notion of having her "family back intact" despite the years that have come and gone and the damage that had to be repaired. I doubt granddaughter will ever trust her mother enough to live with her. For now, I will fight for granddaughter ... its time to focus on where she is going in her own life at the tender age of 14 (May 27th), blaze her own path, live her life independently from her mother, at some point if she wishes to live with her mother then so be it. She will be an adult in a few short years. I wish my oldest daughter well, but giving up my granddaughter to an "unknown" seems a costly price to pay for a kid who never deserved the hand she was dealt. She needs to be a teen, hang out with her friends, have a nice summer, and get enrolled in high school; the best years of her life are yet to come. Her mother needs to let go.
Its been a rough six years, off and on. While oldest daughter has survived drug abuse, losing her children, she now is doing well, and I wish her well, as one day the knock on her door may be her own child. I hope she keeps preparing herself for that day. My youngest daughter has moved from an abusive and dysfunctional relationship with her father to now being married to a great guy who has the patience of a Saint, and she now two children, both under the age of 2. Looking forward to watching them all grow in their love of one another. Unburdened and happy in his life, is my son, also an adult in his 40s, living life with a wonderful girl he was smart enough to ask her to be his wife. I thank him for bringing me such a wonderful daughter. I do try to count my blessings.
I don't know what the future holds, but love will guide the way.
