Mondays...

Photobucket

Today was Bella's first day of Kiddie Kamp at the YMCA Summer Program. I think she lasted about an hour once she got home, and fell fast asleep on her bed!

On the workfront today, no major issues, just an upgrade of the server which caused some temporary loss of sanity!

Other than that, we made it through fairly unscathed...bed is looking pretty good at this point and its not even 9 p.m.

Am I getting old or what?

How Do You Grow Stars?

how do you, while I sleep,
grow stars with your words...
and fill an indigo night with
the scent of forest light and
sounds I've never heard.

how do you leave your
little kisses upon my
cheek while I am asleep...
they are there, when I awake,
and I know you have been here.
do I dream so deep?

how do you fill me
with a thousand dreams
when I have a thousand
of my own, and they entangle,
and become the hunger

I feel in the midnight hour, alone.

how do you, when I close
my eyes, just before bed,
fill them with images
of my finding the first love...
and the awkward steps I take
as I approach you, flushed
with the color of a rosy red.

how do you, as I write, grasp
my pen and draw forth words
that have never before been,
that in their newness, their
neonatal state, already blossom
in the sky when the hour is late.

how do you, as I sit here
so far away, yet still I feel you,
body and soul pressed up close to mine,
and the warmth becomes complete...
and brings me into the arms
of the one that I have known inside
me now for the length of forever.

this beautiful baby was a gift given to me 18 years ago...
has it really been that long? it doesn't seem possible.
This picture was taken with her peeking at the world from my shoulder
at a tender 3 months of age.
She would stop pedal traffic anywhere I took her,
people commenting on how beautiful she was,
that she should have been the "Charmin" face...
and when she finally walked at 1 year 1 week old she was a traveling cutie,
so tiny and delicate.
She has grown up to be a stunning girl
without makeup (however she prefers it)
...back then she was my baby,
and only stepped on my toes, now steps on my heart on occasion; and now I have to compete for her attention from the boys!

Bobbi took this picture goofing off!

Anyway, she graduates high school this evening.
I'll post her graduation pic when I get back.

In Remembrance...

There has been a lot of remembrances written, loved ones lost, hearts broken, lives changed forever but if you haven't read this, you should.  Thanks Joe.

this is a tearjerking video.

Whose in charge?

All the organs of the body were having a meeting,

trying to decide who was the one in charge.

"I should be in charge," said the brain ,

"Because I run all the body's systems,

so without me nothing would happen."

"I should be in charge," said the blood ,

"Because I circulate oxygen all over

so without me you'd all waste away."

"I should be in charge," said the stomach,"

Because I process food and give

all of you energy."

"I should be in charge," said the legs,

"because I carry the body wherever it needs to go."

"I should be in charge," said the eyes,

"Because I allow the body to see where it goes."

"I should be in charge," said the rectum

"Because I'm responsible for waste removal."

All the other body parts laughed at the rectum

And insulted him, so in a huff,

he shut down tight.

Within a few days,

the brain had a terrible headache,

the stomach was bloated,

the legs got wobbly,

the eyes got watery,

and the blood was toxic.

They all decided that the

rectum should be the boss.

The Moral of the story?  The asshole is usually in charge!!

Love, Lust, or Marriage?

LOVE when your eyes meet across a crowded room
LUST when your tongues meet across a crowded room
MARRIAGE when your belt won't meet around your waist, and you don't care

LOVE when intercourse is called making love
LUST all other times
MARRIAGE what's intercourse?

LOVE when you argue over how many children to have
LUST When you argue over who gets the wet spot
MARRIAGE when you argue over money

LOVE when you share everything you own
LUST when you think twice about giving your partner bus money
MARRIAGE when the bank owns everything

LOVE when it doesn't matter if you don't climax
LUST when the relationship is over if you don't climax
MARRIAGE what's a climax?

LOVE when you phone each other just to say "Hi"
LUST when you phone each other just to organize sex
MARRIAGE when you phone each other to find out what time your son's game starts

LOVE when you write poems about your partner
LUST when all you write is your phone number
MARRIAGE when all you write are checks

LOVE when you show concern for your partners' feelings
LUST when you couldn't give a rip
MARRIAGE when your only concern is what's on TV

LOVE when your farewell is "I love you darling"
LUST when your farewell is "So, same time next week?"
MARRIAGE when your farewell is silent

LOVE when you are proud to be seen in public with your partner
LUST when you only ever see each other in the bedroom
MARRIAGE when you never see each other awake

LOVE when your heart flutters every time you see them
LUST when your groin twitches every time you see them
MARRIAGE when your wallet empties every time you see them

LOVE when nobody else matters
LUST when nobody else knows
MARRIAGE when everybody else matters and you don't care who knows

LOVE when all the songs on the radio describe exactly how you feel
LUST when it's just the same mushy old crap
MARRIAGE when you never listen to music

LOVE when breaking up is something you try not to think about
LUST when staying together is something you try not to think about
MARRIAGE when just getting through today is your only thought

LOVE when you're interested in everything your partner does
LUST when you're only interested in one thing
MARRIAGE when you're not interested in what your partner does and the one thing you're interested in is blogging; let him have his old golf game!!!!

The Day's End...

Something about a Sunset.
We watch them. Some drive out to a bluff, some walk to a shoreline, some sit in chairs or on a back porch swing. Some, during an evening barbecue, stop mid-conversation to watch the last rays of the day give way to brilliance.
Something so distant in our genetic history is echoed forward in a wordless, primordial response that it binds history to the moment.
The last light of the day. The last light gives way to splendor. Clouds left from a passing storm blends, bends, and offers itself as a canvas for the glorious event.
Our souls vibrate with the prehistoric memories of confused excitement, awe and momentary fear of light passing into darkness.
All those ancient cellular memories touch us in the moment and we rejoice for it heralds another day coming.  ~author unknown~
